I had an ABBA "Under Attack" moment last night.

My laptop got attacked last night by this Antivir Solution Pro virus. I was in my Yahoo email account when it happened. I didn't even open an attachment or anything. And I was actually replying to a message on my blackberry when all of a sudden this message was popping up saying I had over 34 different viruses on my computer. And it kept on popping up webpages and at one point it acted like I downloaded a Google Toolbar, which I didn't. I disconnected myself from the net and it kept sending warning messages about the virus and telling me if I wanted protection to download this fake Antivir Solution Pro software.

Luckily I had Webroot AntiVirus software and it was able to find the "Rogue Malware Software" and remove it from my system. But it wound up hijacking my Yahoo account and I had to reset my password. That was crazy.

It looks like the Antivir virus is relatively new....when I was searching for solutions on my work laptop, a lot of the links most of which I didn't open were from July 2010. And I went to www.techspot.com and some of the comments about the virus were also made around a week ago.

Just another virus to watch out for on the web.

Viruses can be anoying. My Dad managed to activate a pretty aggressiv downloader and he needed 1 hour for calling me. When I arrived at the Computer it was still spitting out viruses like nothing. I think in that time about 50 Viruses or more got downloaded. It took me 3 days to get rid of all of them.

Normally I dont care that much for Viruses, but once I had one that infected about every videofile I had beyond repair. That one really pissed me of.

You're welcome MuchMore. I fell in love with ABBA when watching Mamma Mia.

maximumrisk: I'm glad you were able to help your Dad out with his virus. That virus was a mother. I was worried I would have to get a new laptop.

At least formatting the drive always works.(Deleting everything) So when attacked by a Virus a new computer is barely neccessary. I reinstall mine about every 3 months, just to keep it fast and without trash.

Linux is a great free operating system that makes it highly unlikely for you to get a virus. icon_wink.gif
