    Supposedly Jennifer Lopez is in.

Is the show dead (or deader)????

Who can take over the judging (along with the only original judge left- Randy Jackson) that would make the show interesting/tolerating?

Yes I was in shock when I read that Ellen was out icon_sad.gif I don't care about Kara tho, Imma miss Simon, he's hot, I have a crush on him LOL, but I'll watch if JLo's a judge and if it's not a rumor, a Latin judge, that'll be awesome!!
I'd like Mariah to be a judge but JLo and Mimi hate each other so that's not gonna happen.

Ellen stepped down, most likely due to her formation of her own record label. Kara was fired. It has not been confirmed yet as of this post, but Jennifer is in negotiations on the contract to be an idol judge. Steven Tyler is in place to take Simons seat. Rumor has it that Paula may be coming back.

With Randy Jackson, I would like to see an actual music label such as Clive Davis. Since Jennifer is an all around entertainer, then I would have her stay. I would also ask Harry Connick, jr to join and have JOn Bon Jovi round out the panel.

The show will never be the same again. I get the feeling it probably only has a year or two left before its history. Jennifer Lopez seems like a decent choice, but without Simon the ratings are going to plummet unless they find someone who's just as big an ass who happens to be right most of the time...unlikely.

Note from the Op: Erik I thought Paula was rumored to be going to Simon's new show?

Well... I think they must recreate the show and make it interisting one more time. I would die for Jennifer Lopez but i think the show needs her much more than she needs the show, if you know what i mean.

Probably she is the best example of a star that broke all the possible barriers to become an A-List star. Maybe she is not the best example of an amzing vocallist but as an entertainer, as a woman with around 25 movies in her carrier, with more than 50 million albums sold, as a fashion designer, as a producer, as a dancer, as a song-writer and as one of the most famous celebrities worldwide she can add too much to the show.

watch the X Factor instead!! soooooo much better and the judges compete against eachother! they mentor a category [the boys, the girl, the over 25's and groups) and select the songs for their pupils and its soooo much more interesting!!!
plus you get to shout: X FACTOR ME BABY!!

I love Ellen, but glad to see her go. In fact, wouldn't be surprised if they asked her to go and just agreed to make it look like it was HER decision. I thought from the get-go that IDOL was a horrible fit for her. She never seemed comfortable in the role -- it just didn't work.

I heard mumblings that they are considering Jessica Simpson, and her ditziness might actually be kind of fun. I wouldn't mind seeing them bring Paula back even if it were for just one season. I also heard they were considering Kelly Clarkson.

As for Steven Tyler, I think it's a horrendous idea. I would have rather seen Bret Michaels if they were going to go in that direction.

Interestingly, I think what we could be seeing here is the slow demise of "American Idol", which will set the stage for Simon Cowell to make a huge comeback in Fall 2011 with his "X FACTOR", proving what many knew all along that IDOL without Simon is nothing.

X-Factor is far better than Pop Idol ever was.

Is Simon not taking some of the UK judges with him? I heard it was between Cheryl Cole and Louis Walsh? Although I think they decided against Cheryl as you would struggle to understand her accent?!

Kara has a nasty attitude; never liked her at all. J. Lo as a judge huh? That would be interesting. The show can survive but they need to be very careful with who the recruit as judges. Can't replace Simon with Richard Simmons; let's not get stupid American Idol lol.
