Has anyone tried the new footwear?
I've been running for 45 years but this is the new paradigm.

It's called the Vibram 5 finger shoes. I bought the KSO style shoes and I love it. I'm a really big fan of barefoot running so these shoes are like a dream come true for me. lol. I like also it because you can take it running, hiking, exercise and do water activities with it. I've been doing kickboxing with them on and it feels great.

Yes those. I bought the FLOW which is more like a low cut sock and less like a ballet slipper.

I wear them at the beach, they are great in the water, keeps your feet from getting cut. I see a lot of them in the gym as well.

oh gawd is that what those stupid looking things are called. There's one super preppy looking couple at my gym and both she and he came in one day wearing them. Talk about looking silly, especially on him. He's about 6'8" and skinny as a bean pole with loooong legs. When he walks in them he resembles a straight man wearing highheels walking down the catwalk of a fashion show. Honest to gawd the weird looks they illicit from people.
Some things you just have to say no to and those are them.

Funny, because these are just shoes that allow you to walk the way God designed people to walk.

Still doesn't make them any less silly looking does it

I have been using these for just under 12 months and I absolutely love them. I won't write a dissertation about their benefits here, but I have noticed no negative effects at all and plenty of positives. Hopefully I won't get to 50 and discover that I fucked up my joints! icon_surprised.gif)

there have been various threads on RJ about the Vibram 5f shoes ( which is only the company making the sole ) .
I believe FiveFingers is the brand.

anyway, they have been around for long enough that if they were some magical solution to running, the whole community of runners, from casual to pro racers would have made the switch.
I haven't tried them but i've run barefoot and in minimal shoes ( even neoprene surfer shoes ).
I still prefer a good pair of racing flats.

I'm asking for a pair for XMas (but also asking for a pair of regular running shoes, too - hedging my bets on these).

I will say that every guy I've seen wearing them has great legs.icon_wink.gif
