I can remember a time sitting in the breakfast room and watching my dad sort the mail over the kitchen trash basket. Just about everything went in the basket. He hardly had to give it a thought. I chuckled at how he just tossed one piece of mail after another.

Well, now I am at that age. Save the bills, toss the rest.

Well, I have learned there is a way to cut down drastically on all that junk mail.

Go to www.dmaconsumers.org. In the body of the homepage, there is this link: DMAChoice – DMA’s Suite of Preference Services

Click it and you can opt out of credit card offers and lots of other direct mail stuff.

It takes a while for the junk mail to stop because my name is already out there. But after a few months, I should see appreciably less.

I will appreciate that....and the trees that are saved.

100 million trees are cut ot proudce the nearly 4.5 million tons of junk mail that is sent in the US each year.

The one I posted is free. It may not plant trees but it reduces the demand to cut the trees.

Either one is a great idea tho. Thanks

"breakfast room" is that a Yankee thing?

Can anyone tell me how to stop the junk email? I have McAfee, but it only catches about half or less, and sometimes it catches some, that I want, so I still have to go through the junk icon_rolleyes.gif

I'm a carpenter, should I complain about trees being cut down icon_question.gif I use trees every day icon_redface.gif

Well, apparently, "breakfast room" isn't an irish thing.

but, now sir, exactly whom are you calling a yankee?!?!? ... icon_eek.gif

As to whether yankees have breakfast rooms, all I can say is that impression they gave in the Great Unpleasantness is that they dont....they apparently eat at troughs.

(Do you understand any of this, MikePhil? ... icon_lol.gif ...)
