Started a new training program yesterday which has me running a bit longer every other day and cross-training or resting on alternate days. I went to the gym yesterday and worked out arms, legs, butt, chest and abs.

Today I ran 9 miles in 1:10:26 (7:50 pace), which was right on target for my training schedule.

Treadmill run last night because I thought it was going to rain on me (never again will I run in a downpour).

Had to break up my short run into two - uh, microshort? - runs. First was five, 38:53. Second was three, 24:14. I guess I should do no running at all tonight as a warmup at the gym to give me a day to recover.

Interesting, if gross, side note: I was literally dripping with sweat when I finished - I mean, I was as wet as if I had taken a shower in my gear. I thought I was going to slip on the treadmill from the amount of liquid I put down.

After I complete a workout I am soaked in sweat. I don't bother with a shirt anymore just because it is one more wet object to deal with when done.

Even in the AC of the gym I did a treadmill workout Tuesday for 4 miles, I got progressively faster for each half-mile. I started at 7:30 pace and ended up at 6:30 pace before I was done. It helped me for my race Wednesday by trying to build up speed in the run and not going so fast at the beginning.

I need to get a watch and see what my actual pace is when I run long runs. I am sure I am running at 8 minute pace.
