Well of course I love rainbows, for their wondrous beauty and being unpredictable, and therefore always a happy surprise. May I tell a rainbow story?
My late partner died in early 2004. And 6 months later our gay friends held their annual gay campout on a rural farm, that he & I had attended before. I decided to go again, and invited the gay couple with whom we were closest friends, who had shared our camper with us before.
And the other campers, about 45 of them, surprised me on the first day by holding an outdoor memorial service at sunset for my partner. We all held candles, and a lantern was lit in his honor, that burned the several days we were there.
And just as we were doing that, a rainbow appeared, from a distant storm that hadn't reached us. And it was the biggest, broasdest and most beautiful rainbow you could imagine. And we all gasped at the incredible timing of it, and I just cried & cried.
BTW, here's the camper the year of the rainbow, next to a barn building.
