Battling Insomnia you get to see all kinds of things on the Tube icon_confused.gif

But I change the channel and what do I see
A Broadcast of the 1982 movie Making Love
with a VERY sexy Michael Ontkean and a very young Kate Jackson

I remember seeing this movie so young and being transfixed because it was something that I'd never seen before
What were some of the first mainstream gay movies that you saw growing up?

I love the hokey flute music during their kiss icon_rolleyes.gif

thanks for posting this. I have never heard of it before.

I see the insomnia thing is still a problem....sorry to hear that....

    Have you tried:

    1. masterbation

    2. meditation, focus on your breathe. every time you start to have a thought, go back to thinking about your breath as a way to try and slow your mind down.

    3. don't eat or drink any caffeine or high energy foods late at night.

    4. is your bedroom quiet (sound wise) and decorated with soothing colors (not bright reds).

As to the question....I don't know...
    mainstream gay movie?

independent gay film....there have been so many. The first would probably be when I went on my own to go see some films at a GLBT film festival. I don't remember the names of them.

One of the first on the tv would be And The Band Played On

Yeah, another early movie that instilled in the hetero public that all gay men are dying of AIDS. Just like "Philadelphia" etc etc.

    lol what?!?

An Early Frost attacked the horrendous isolation and prejudice gay men faced.
At that time they were the only visible group in North America with infections.

    One of my favourite songs...

Here close to our feelings we touch again
    We love again
    Remember when we thought
    Our hearts would never mend
And we're all the better for each other

There's more to love I know
    Than making love

Here no more confusion we see our lives
    We live our lives
    Remember when we thought
    We never would survive
But now neither one of us is breaking

There's more to love I know
    Than making love

    Some things never change
    Some things sometimes do
And now I'm feeling strong enough to let you in
And now neither one of us is breaking
Knowing now there's more to love
    Than making love
And I'll remember you and making love
    And I'll remember you

This was one of those movies i saw when i was, i think, fourteen or fifteen, that made me proud i'm gay, and aware that i AM a man, who deserves to be loved like that.
And then when you hear Roberta Flack, that was it, that was divine.

Thanks for posting the clip. Roberta Flack's rendition of the theme song is one of my favorite recordings made by the lady. I love dancing to this song and holding someone in my arms as she sings. This movie was soooo far ahead of its time. I always had a crush on Michael Ontkean. I'm sorry that his star didn't soar more than it did for his career.

i had the same problem sleeping until i changed my room a bit.
i made my bed align with north to south. and sleep so well now

some people like it east to west.

maybe changing the orientation of your bed can help
