Here is the trailer for "Burlesque"the new Christina Aguilera movie.....is this going to help her get her career back on track? Or is it the last nail in the coffin?

I don't know....feels like "Showgirls" meets "Chicago". Are there really "Burlesque" theaters out there? You have got to love Cher though. icon_smile.gif

Ok I think this has "bomb" written all over it. A week in the theaters than maybe a cult gay "classic" on dvd (that people will rent, not buy).

But maybe I am missing something? What do you think?

oh, so that's what it's about. i got a Burlesque tank top -- two sizes to small, and tissue thin -- for volunteering at SF pride. it's so small i have to peel myself out of it when i'm done, so of course i wear it all the time! Didn't know I was advertising for Christina.

In preparation for burlesque I am watching the "commentary" version of the showgirls DVD....which is THE BOMB! My fear is that "Burlesque" is going to be just bad bad...not good bad. However Cher is pretty savvy...perhaps she put her foot down and demanded better script etc.

And by the way? Who is going to see this movie....I mean, what audience would this be geared to?

This is true. However, it doesn't matter if this tanks or not, i have to LOL at the fact someone said this would be the final nail in her coffin. Look the bitch can sing, and definately out sing trash like Lady trashbag and Beyonce the fat cow. I'm not even a fan of Christina slagulera, but i'll admit she's got more voice than those two combined.

That said, the only reason i'd ever consider seeing a movie like this is because of Cher. Dunno.. Call me gay i guess, but i want to see how many times that bitch changes her hair in this movie icon_razz.gif

No doubt Christina can sing....but boy has she made some BAD choices. Her latest album flopped because she played the gender bending whore sex kitten schtick ....and it is overdone, too late. It is too bad because the song "You Lost Me" is incredible..in original form as well as the dance version I.MH.O. So yes the bitch can sing...but that isn't the end all today unfortunately.

It's too bad her latest album hasn't done very well, as there are some great ballads on there. I'm looking forward to watching this movie and hopefully there will be good songs from the soundtrack.

Been listening to the soundtrack today.

Cher gets the Jennifer Hudson moment.
    Christina gets the Beyonce moment.

It is fun. It is campy.

OMG this movie is sooooooo going to bomb.

Just saw it on a date tonight... OMG, I got a huge dance boner! lol The girls were sick in there. Loved the choreo and the sets. Granted, the plot wasn't super intense, but the visuals made me drool. My date was laughing cuz of how animated I was getting. It totally rememinded me of Cabaret! And I loved the soundtrack. I DEFINITELY what to choreograph something to that. MMMMMHHMMMMM. icon_biggrin.gificon_razz.gificon_biggrin.gificon_razz.gif

I think she's a good singer...... but I hate movies like this, I don't even have to watch the trailer, just reading a few posts is enough to put me off.

I just saw it. I went in with really low expectations, but I seriously loved every minute of. Sheer entertainment from start to finish. The musical numbers are top-notch. Cristina has never been better. Cher was perfectly cast, and her singing "The Last of Me" was one of the highlights. If you have ever liked Cristina or Cher, you're missing a real treat if you don't go see "Burlesque".

Oh yeah...Cam Gigandet and Eric Dane are dreamy in it.

It's worth the price of admission just to see Cam Gigandet's bare ass strut across the bedroom icon_wink.gif

I thought it was a really dun movie. great costumes. Definitely looking forward to using some of the songs as audition pieces.

    Very entertaining.
