Conservative Jock Forum is the result of ideas shared among a number of members via emails and a thread of a couple of months ago.

There were two general needs identified. The first was the existence of an area where discussion could exist and ideas shared away from the antagonism that has unfortunately pervaded the political threads here. Several of us have learned via friendships and emails that there are many RJ members who would like to participate but find the atmosphere of the threads undesirable.

The second need identified was a springboard, or discussion area, for those of us who want to become involved in political activities in any capacity, especially to influence the upcoming election. This type of discussion would be very difficult to maintain on the RJ threads.

Labels are often misleading. I think conservative for most of us applies to politics, e.g. limited Government, spending restraint, and deficit control. However, even on this new board, we will probably have different opinions on a number of issues, and we need to welcome our diverse views as much as we welcome our common general views.

Several of us continue to participate in the RJ political discussion threads at some level. We have found there is the possibility to have genuine, intelligent dialog involving significantly differing views, but such discussions are unfortunately rare. We came to the conclusion that with most of us having limited time, we wanted to allocate some of the time previously spent on the RJ political threads instead to another venue.

Based on the previous thread, it is clear that some with differing viewpoints oppose the existence of a forum of this type. One of the ideas we kicked around was suggesting that certain threads be identified by their title as right leaning or left leaning, for lack of better terms, and ask that others not go into opposing threads and hijack them. The opinion was unanimous that such a scheme without some type of enforcement would never work.

Subsequently, there has been misinformation spread that Conservative Jock in some manner collects personal information about members. The type of information collected when initiating an account is the most basic information that is typically required when joining any forum. Additionally, any user information that is provided can be hidden from other members.

If there is anything to add, I will update this first message, so that it will not be necessary to scroll down through the thread if it does become long.

For those of you who do support this forum, please let any of your RJ friends know who might not be monitoring this area.

The Conservative Jock Forum is secure, meaning that activation requires approval, and only activated account holders can see any of the content or list of members. PM me and I will send the information. Please use your Real Jock username on Conservative Jock.

Please disregard any url provided by anyone in following messages that purports to be the url of Conservative Jock. Some folks are playing games.

While I lean conservative (I'm actually more libertarian) I don't see this as a good thing. Part of the "fun" of coming here is to see how the "other side" thinks and engage in discussion. As an adult, I can ignore children who think, "You're stupid," is the height of political discussion. But then I have thick skin and confidence in my beliefs.

It's easier to demonize what we don't know. If we isolate ourselves, it will be easier for "the other side" to demonize us.

Nevertheless, I wish you luck. Your forum may be what some of the shy conservatives need to build their confidence.

I'm sure some unsuspecting, naive, liberal will wander into your discussion forums and bring spirited perspective to the grand old party. What do you think? Will you treat them better than conservatives have been treated here, or do you think it will become an analrape-fest?

Will it be strictly censored propaganda free and civil thought?

BTW, where is it? On this site? Oh! "underground" with pre-approved membership. Sounds clubby to the exclusion of outside thought. Almost like "intellectual incest"?

If you've got your own little club, where everybody agrees on everything, what will there be to discuss ?
And, how long do you think that will last before some educated liberals show up with some facts ?

QFT. BTW, I've archived this thread using Evernote (just in case some odd unknown "censorship" occurs and this thread accidentally gets deleted).

It's not an either/or deal. Participating in one forum does not preclude participating in the other. These forums can be fun, and the discussions interesting.

The issue to me isn't just ignoring the "you're stupid BS BS BS" threads. Part of it is not wanting to take the time to continually respond in opposition to a point you make, usually dealing with arguments that have been hashed and re-hashed multiple times, with neither side giving any ground. Again, the limited time factor.

Some of the guys may be shy as you suggest, but others just don't want to deal with some of the things that are common in these threads.

The other point is if suggesting a political site to sign up to get involved with some activity, I think there are RJ members who will mess with the site. I've seen dirty tricks and think it is likely.

Surprised and disappointed to hear you say that. There was no intent to defame anyone here.

I said nothing about defaming. It's about unmitigated lies and propaganda, that your kind try to sell here. Begone, before someone drops a house on you.

jprichva saidThe reason for the site (btw, here's the url for anyone who cares:
    ConservativeTreeFortNoLibrulzAloud.com)
is that right-wingers are so terrified and so thin-skinned that they must occupy a liberal-free zone. Dissent is not tolerated in Righty-Land. It is treason. And...

    so appealing.

Bla bla bla, the only one you convinced was yourself. How about viewing it as a minority within a minority support group? Has nothing to do with not wanting debate.

Are black people allowed to join your Klan, you know, as long as they know their place, and stay in it, and don't get all uppity ?

Will Conservative Jock be free of right-wing antagonism as well? Or is this just a site to have an echo chamber on "LOL Obama is a Darkie" threads? Because I assure you the insipid right-wing antagonism on this site isn't exactly darling.

and we imagine Socal and co will consider this when admitting SB to the group.

SB said "Who cares whether it is a real or fake profile?

This is an internet chat forum... nothing really matters here."

    and

"Again... this is an internet forum.... it's not an important place."

Yeah... you have yourself a big problem there. The only two of the right wingers on RJ who will make it through this are MockTurtle and IHG. Oh and that kid who works on airlines or something... he´s hot too. But most of the vocal ones... DENIED

I didn't say you sillies didn't want debate, I said you're afraid of it.
Like the wusses at freerepublic, com. They get apoplectic if a liberal shows up, and even worse if one of their own accidentally says something a liberal might somewhere agree with. Then they are usually kicked off the site for good for heresy.

No, you people only want to live in a world where everyone thinks just as you do, and if the real world disappoints you (as it always will) then by golly you'll create your own. With passwords and every darn thing.

    Pathetic.

I'm afraid of it huh? Oh please, I deal with liberals all the time! Most of my friends are liberals. I live near madison wisconsin, that place is like a mini sanfran. Every other bumper sticker has "obama 08", "coexist" and "healthcare4all" on it.

Let's make a separate discussion and talk about what caused the housing crisis! I'll take you on any day!

No I don't. I actually thought that I was a liberal for many years until one day I discovered what the parties actually stand for and then I realized where I stood. I never watched fox or any type of GOP supporter the whole time I was growing up.

I was bought up conservative then went libertarian when I realised that Jesus doesn´t give a flying fuck who you fuck and the conservative movement is inherently anti gay (note, not conservatism... there is nothing inherently homophobic about "the market", but social conservatism, esp in the USA, is undeniably against equality). I gave up on libertarianism when I realised it´s an adolescent fantasy on a par to wanking to Pamela Anderson, though less popular.
