So, I'm going to be out of the country for the next couple of months. I'll be in a place where it's a little socially unacceptable to wear shorts in public (not forbidden, but looked down upon). It will be hot. My friend says that running pretty much doesn't happen (some safety reasons, and really no where to run).

I'm trying to come up with some exercises that I can do that can keep me from getting "soft." I figure a jump rope will come in handy, and all the normal crunches, sit-ups, push-ups, pull-ups, etc. etc.

Is there any other exercises you guys have found useful while on the road? Any tips would be helpful.

This is only slightly related, but I will be in the UK and France and I'm wondering about gyms... can you get a weekly membership? Which gyms (in London, Paris and Berlin) are not crazy gyms and have reasonable rates?

Box jumps and steps might work. Pretty easy to find something sturdy enough that you can step or jump onto it.

When I'm out on the road and there's no good place to workout ... rely on the ole noggin'
    pushups..
    calisthenics... bring a jump rope
    two sturdy chairs for dips
if you can find an out of the way flight of stairs for stadium steps

.... just sit down and think of some things and you'll do great
