    TATTOOS!

More people seem to be getting tattoos now than ever before. Whether it's a personal preference or following the herd mentality...what's your reason for getting one?

Um....self expression I guess. I have two now, and the artwork for two more, and each of them will have special meaning.

I have a few... one one each arm, and across my back. And planning more as funds are available. They are very personal and not for everybody. Often I look at them as reminders of who I am and where I have been.

I'm thinking of getting my first one but I keep getting cold feet. I really dunno what design I want or even a clue where to get ideals from. I guess I may never get one, but the idea is always running through my head.

They are not my style, and I prefer guys that don't have them.

    /Just a preference, not a requirement.

I do have one right now,but Im planning on getting a bigger one on my shoulders and pecs. I think they are a good way to let go of your frustration when you are getting inked, and your body is more original and different because you have a design than the others dont.

It is more rare to see people without them than with them.....by far. It has gotten to the point where it is more unique to not have one at all.

Most of them, I don't think they did a very good job or they put it in a place that that does not look good on that part of the body. Esshh...if I was going to get one...I would spend time to make sure that it was going to be really special....unique....and of high quality. It is permanent after all.

There are a few that I have seen that I really loved that I have seen in photos and in person. One guy had these very small birds flying along the side of his torso.

Another guy had these leopard spots all the way down the middle of his back....there was something that was just really hot about that....not sure why...it was very well done. not too much even though it may sound like it. I realize that other people have had leopard spots on their back but I have never seen it done well like this. The spacing, design, etc....was just right....and it really put an emphasis on his sexy butt as it went to the bottom of his back. (ok...I saw him in the locker room one time last year....still remember it)

I think that it should look like a work of art....not a last minute decision...and not something that is too common...and in the right place for the design

Really don't like the one's on peoples faces or necks.

My neighbors yesterday were just talking about this one guy who had a huge vagina tattooed on his entire face. DON'T DO THAT!!!

How is that working for you? I must say that the tattoo on my chest covers a portion of my stretch marks and the color "bled" a bit into the stretch mark. It is not very noticeable but I can see it and point it out to others.

It hides (or draws the eye away) well. My tattoo is mainly outlines and the outlines are going in the same direction as the stretch marks.

MuchMoreThanMuscle saidWhy are people commenting in this thread who do not care for tattoos?

The question was, "What is your reason for getting one?"

How is it that people fail to understand the question? It is fine if you do not care for them but go and start your own thread about what you do not care for.

And I got my first tattoo for having survived stage four NonHodgins Lymphoma. Lower left leg on my calf.

Second tattoo was to celebrate my newly discovered Scottish heritage, right arm - tribal design around the Lion Rampant. I think the Scottish are the coolest most soulful group of people from all of the British Isles. Just my opinion, of course. Needless to say I am happy to be a part of that group. icon_smile.gif

A large tattoo on my back to cover up incision scars for possible fear of skin cancer melanomas.

And the one on my chest to camouflage the gaping incision scar on my chest for my PICC line in my chest with stands for (peripherally inserted central catheter) which was placed to receive my chemotherapy.

The word "Valentía" tattooed over my chest hides the scar and means "Fearless." After having gone through a lot in my life I must say that I do not have the level of fear that most people live with. I almost died a few years ago. Since that time I have learned a shit load when it comes to understanding life, loving me for me and accepting myself and others. For that I am TRULY grateful. I am not afraid of death but I choose to keep living because I believe there is so much learning to be had in life. As long as you are willing to accept it the learning is there for you.

Wow...after reading your story....all I can say is that you're here for a reason! Maybe you should consider writing a book....as I'm sure it may inspire others!

for me...a clean defined body is a work of art...no tattoos or props required...
