It just would make no sense for her to be talking about being against government intrusion but then she wants the government to intrude on gay peoples' rights.

I don't know much information about her...

Its typical conservative double speak, get the government out of our lives, unless your gay, black/latino, have a thick Spanish accent, or are poor.

I'm not saying only conservatives do it, I'm just saying the hypocrisy on the issue is almost a conservative only issue.

Another one of our right-wing plants here? Are you gay or not? You guys pop in here, with a minimal profile, no pics, and promptly begin anti-gay political posts. And do nothing else. Now why should't we be suspicious of that? This is a gay health & fitness site, in case you hadn't noticed.

LOL, I have NEVER posted an anti gay comment on this site. I am for less government. I'm a Non Believer so I could care less about marriage, but do believe that everyone should have the right to marry whoever they want. Its not up to the government to tell people who the can and cannot love. I dont have a picture up for privacy reasons. I really dont want my pics up on the internet.

She is just a terrible candidate and is not ready for prime time, national campaign. Angle was high risk and high reward for the Right but now I bet they wish they had Sue Lowden back.

I would say its one of two things with this issue. One, she probably has no true idea where the money is coming from. She does have other people to handle it and probably largely in the dark since this is a face and a fundraising operation much bigger than what she used to do. Two, she went overboard on the Gay Rights opposition to shore up social conservatives and possibly because its how she feels herself.

Will be interesting to see if she clarifies her position, either by returning the money or backtracking on the gay rights opposition. The statement released by her campaign seems pretty moderate, but also doesn't seem to align with Angle's answers on the questionnaire.

And really, Reid should have been the easy seat to get.

Very true. Hopefully a lesson to think strategically and not get caught up in the moment. That said, I hope she pulls it off.

It's actually those who are socially conservative who are usually hypocritical. But Sharon Angle is quite extreme--Harry Reid has the election in the bag.

The GOP was not too bright to put her forth as many independents will have a hard time voting for her.

The lady is seriously mentally ill, yes. (And the likelihood that there might be plenty of people who agree with her crazy beliefs doesn't mean she's not mentally ill. It just means that a lot of people are mentally ill.)

Its typical for all politicians of all political affiliations, and ideology who care mostly of themselves, to double speak. Are you so vigilant in finding out the "truth" exposing corruption, double speak, and lies with both sides, or are you only concerned with one? From what I've seen of you on here, and along with others.. It appears you're only concerned with one side... This means you, and others like you don't really care about the country, but about being right, about your image, your ego, and "your side". Just like so many of these pathetic wankers in the political world who are ruining the country.. People like you don't help, only aid them by playing these stupid games.

Truth, and facts don't have a side, one should always look for what is right and what is wrong and ask themselves honest questions. When you deal in absolutes, in this case being so stuck on one side hating the other... You're not dealing in truth and facts, only distorted and misguided opinions you believe as truth.. In the end, it makes you the very same thing you loathe of the other side.

I know what her policies are, and I don't agree with all of them..(I agree with Reid's even less). You also sit here trying to lump the things she believes in as something ALL conservatives believe in. I remember telling you before how political affiliations, and beliefs if you are a liberal, or conservative, republican or democrat, aren't so black and white... Still haven't learned that I see.

I saw her views on what she thinks of partner benefits of gay couples... I don't agree with them, neither did this other "crazy woman" named Sarah Palin, who vetoed a bill that would have denied same sex couples from receiving benefits from their partner, because she felt it was unconstitutional.

I'm sorry but people like you, really make Liberals, and Democrats look real bad every time you speak... And do stop with the race garbage, its old.

If she has the power to somehow do the above, she likely has the same power to take away your rights as a gay person (assuming you're gay). icon_wink.gif

Well, it seems she wants less government in some areas, but -- despite the rhetoric she spouts about wanting less government -- she wants more government in other areas.

From the Vice Presidential debate in 2008:

Q: Do you support, as they do in Alaska, granting same-sex benefits to couples?

BIDEN: Absolutely positively. Absolutely no distinction from a legal standpoint between a same-sex and a heterosexual couple. That’s only fair.

Q: Would you support expanding that beyond Alaska to the rest of the nation?

PALIN: Well, not if it goes closer and closer towards redefining the traditional definition of marriage between one man and one woman. And unfortunately that’s sometimes where those steps lead. I don’t support defining marriage as anything but between one man and one woman, and I think through nuances we can go round and round about what that actually means. I’m being as straight up with Americans as I can in my non- support for anything but a traditional definition of marriage.

    *************

From the Anchorage Daily News in 2006:

"The Alaska Supreme Court determined in 2006 that, despite the constitutional amendment declaring marriage between a man and a women, the state could not deny health care and retiree benefits to partners of state employees who were in a committed same sex relationship. The legislature passed a law forbidding the executive to give such benefits. Governor Palin vetoed the law based on the advice of the Alaska Attorney General that the law was unconstitutional and a direct afront to the Alaska Supreme Court Decision. However, she indicated that she did not support giving these basic benefits to same sex couples. "

    ***************

And you can find the information quoted below at http://mediamattersaction.org/palin_myths/:

Media falsely assert Palin supports benefits for same-sex partners of state employees
Several media figures have falsely asserted that Palin supports granting benefits to same-sex partners of state employees. In her August 31 syndicated column, Debra Saunders wrote that Palin "is not a hard-core social conservative. For example, Palin supported awarding benefits for same-sex couples." Similarly, on the August 29 edition of CNN Newsroom, CNN Headline News host Glenn Beck claimed of Palin: "She is the first administration in Alaska's history to provide benefits to the partners of gay and lesbian employees. So she's not -- she's, she's common sense. ... Real conservatives have common-sense values, and they'll look at things and say, 'OK, I believe in traditional marriage. But why would I stop somebody from getting, you know, benefits, they've lived together for 20 years?' " In fact, while Palin vetoed a bill in 2006 that would have prevented state officials from granting spousal benefits, her actions followed a 2005 Alaska Supreme Court ruling that the state's policy of denying spousal benefits to same-sex partners of public employees violated the Alaska Constitution and a 2006 state Supreme Court order requiring the state to issue regulations granting such benefits by January 1, 2007.
Indeed, in a message accompanying the veto, Palin's office stated that she disagreed with the Alaska Supreme Court's actions: "The Governor's veto does not signal any change or modification to her disagreement with the action and order by the Alaska Supreme Court." Further, as a candidate for governor, Palin reportedly supported efforts to prohibit state benefits for same-sex couples. The Anchorage Daily News reported on August 6, 2006, that Palin believes "[e]lected officials can't defy the court when it comes to how rights are applied, she said, but she would support a ballot question that would deny benefits to homosexual couples. 'I believe that honoring the family structure is that important,' Palin said. She said she doesn't know if people choose to be gay." Moreover, Palin indicated in a written questionnaire that she disagreed with the Alaska Supreme Court's ruling that same-sex couples are entitled to the same spousal benefits given to other state employees, and in another questionnaire Plain replied, "Yes," when asked if she would support "a Constitutional amendment to overturn [the] Alaska Supreme Court decision mandating public employers to provide benefits equivalent to marriage to same-sex couples."

You've said this same childish thing like a hundred times. Do you have a clue how people other than yourself would view his remarks?

Of course not. Everyone you live near holds the same views you do, so how could anyone else possibly think differently?

It's people like you who make Conservatives look real bad every time you speak.

Point them out if you can, go on try I dare you to.

There are a lot of people on this site, who I do not agree with politically. There are people on this site who do not believe in god, and yet I am still friends with them, can have a fun conversation with them, and or hang with them. Why? Because we respect each other. People like you on the other hand cannot seem to do that, and its very off putting.. It doesn't make you look intelligent, it sure as hell doesn't make you intimidating... You just look typical, and limited... Not to mention angry. How come left, and right wing nut bags always seem so angry?

I've said before we all come from different walks of lives, and have issues important to us, and beliefs largely based in our experiences. I acknowledge and accept that not everyone thinks like me, which is all well and good..Though I have absolutely no problem calling someone out who is saying untrue things, or hateful things.

Now as far as me being a conservative.. You're very wrong again Mr JP.. In fact if you actually looked at past post of mine, particularly one where me and this other guy who sure as hell isn't a Conservative, were stating our views..Our views were pretty quite similar.. Though for someone like yourself who seems to be so into one side, with his head so far up his own ass.. I guess it could be pretty hard to acknowledge someone who's views are more moderate.

    Have a good night icon_smile.gif
