This morning, Ryan Seacrest confirmed with GLEE creator Ryan Murphy that the legendary icon Britney Spears will in fact appear on her episode of the show, titled "Britney/Brittany".

I'm SO SO excited! Apparently they are gonna be having fantasies where they will perform Britney songs because Mr. Schu does not want the kids to do Britney.

Who's excited for the Queen of Pop on Glee???? OMGGGGG.

Queen of Pop? Hardly. Bitch hasn't had a worthwhile song since 2001.

At least with auto-tune she'll be able to hit her notes finally.

I thought Glee was about singing. Not about ehmm... "performing" ? icon_rolleyes.gif

I have a lot of respect for what Britney Spears did in her early career, but I'll have to agree GwgTrunks, I don't think we can mention her as the Queen of Pop anymore. I hate to compare artists, but these days, Britney can't do a lot against Beyonce, Christina Aguilera, Lady Gaga, Janet Jackson... and the list goes on for the "Queens".

I do like the show, but don't watch it religiouslyComments of Britney that popped up into my head have already mentioned so not going to repeat them, but I guess it would be fun to see her songs interpreted by people who can actually sing. icon_razz.gif

One of my favorite clips from the show, and I dedicate this to you- my teeny weeny itty bitty short short ''stud'' ahem!

Haha, partially in agreement. I did enjoy ''Blackout'', but wasn't a fan of ''Circus''

Really? you didn't care for "Toxic"? from 2004. That's probably her most well liked track even for people who aren't fans.

But, anyway, I'm not a fan of Glee (not because I hate it or anything, just not into it), but I do love Britney, so I'll be watching it.

Queen of Pop? No, that's Madonna and always will be (although it's not an official title or anything).

Britney can't do a lot against Beyonce, Xtina, Gaga, Janet? Just put her name on anything and it goes to #1 - example: "3" which DEBUTED at #1 without any promotion whatsoever (and without a music video), something that hadn't been accomplished in 5 years by any artist.

And Xtina? please, girl's Bionic hasn't sold 200,000 copies yet. Beyonce and lady Gaga I love. All of these girls are very talented, but none of them have the presence of Britney - nor will they ever.

Girl, please. 2001 is SO last decade. You must've been asleep during the time Toxic came out...or Gimme More (or Blackout for that matter - considered one of the best albums of the last decade)...or Womanizer...or Circus.

No one, not even Britney, ever said she had the best vocals or can compete with the people who can, but when it comes to performing and stage presence, no one comes close to her - no one in her league at least (not naming Madonna).

In my opinion, Britney Spears is the now Queen of Pop while Madonna is the ultimate Queen (I love Madonna). No matter how much haters are gonna comment on her singing talent (this isn't 1999 anymore people), her influence on pop music from 12 years ago till today is insanely huge. That said, I am SUPER excited for the episode. It's gonna be incredible!!!

Not wanting to start a Diva war: Britney WAS a great dancer back in the day. She has only had 3 Number 1's during her whole career in the USA.

Gaga and Beyonce squash her as far as hits go and presence imo and I think globally Gaga is way bigger then Britney ever was at her peak.

I think Britney was able to hold on to her career due to her image marketing her as a ''virgin'' and her non-threatening all american appeal. I don't know how many major hits she actually had, but I know for sure she's only had three number 1's.

The question is can Gaga last 10 years, we'll have to see.

Ending note the rest can all at least sing live, and I prefer Gaga, P!nk, Kelly Rowland over Britney day as far as mainstream pop singers go.

EDIT: Blackout was a good album! Circus sucked and so did her tour - I would not pay to see that!

EDIT 2: I would like to see this episode, just to see what they do with the songs

The only reason Britney only has had 3 #1's in her career is because Britney was banned from radio stations from 2001 to 2005 - during the time she released "Britney" and "In The Zone" and her first greatest hits album. The reason for the radio ban was because Britney's team used Pepsi to sponsor her Dream Within A Dream tour instead of Clear Channel (which owns majority of radio stations).

During this time, her singles did not chart too well (except Toxic, which despite no radio play, still managed to become a top 10 hit) - while her album sales were out of the roof with each album going multiplatinum.

Saying Lady Gaga is more popular now than Britney Spears is/was is quite funny. Britney has sold over 100 million albums world wide and her past 3-4 singles have all charted incredibly in international markets (Womanizer, #1 Global single. Lady Gaga is insanely popular right now because, along with her talent, she is the new "it" girl - as was Britney during the first few years of her careeer.

Britney's "virgin" image was scrapped in 2001 when she released Slave 4 U, but still has had multiplatinum albums after that, and after a year long breakdown.

And also, Lady Gaga and Beyonce smash Britney with hits? That is a bit far fetched. Lady Gaga has had one studio album with an additional LP. Beyonce has had 3 albums. Britney has had 6 albums, all of which have had their share of hits, and all of which have at least gone to platinum certification.

OK, wow haha fanatic aren't we! That is a lie though about radio play...when I was in Hawaii I heard ''Toxic'' on the radio (which is a good tune).

Let's give Gaga the same amount of time as Britney and see....she still with one album and a mini LP has far more successful global singles then Ms. Spears.

I also believe she played the virgin card all way up to ''In the Zone''; which had ''Everytime''.

I'm not saying the she's bad, but she's over hyped for the actual ''talent'' she possess and she's not that good to look at. Neither is Gaga, but that's not what her image is based on unlike Britney.

Edit: Gaga has had over a billion views on Youtube! icon_smile.gif

The radio play thing is not a lie at all. I said she was banned from Clear Channel, not all radio...although Clear Channel owns the majority and most popular music stations. And no, Britney lost her virgin card during her "Britney" era with Justin Timberlake.

And come on...Britney is gorgeous. Well to me she is, and she is super hot. Of course her body isn't what it was in 2004, but it's still amazing.

And you can thank Lady Gaga's billion views to those great music videos. I LOVE them!!!

I don't agree about Lady GaGa being bigger than Britney Spears was in her day - at all. Lady GaGa's fame is huge, I won't deny it, but the phenomenon that Britney Spears was to this day still has not been recreated - not even with that Hannah Montana Disney channel girl who was so popular with kids.

Since I grew up with Britney, I remember the magazines, the TV specials devoted to her (concert footage, interviews with familiy and friends, merchandise galore (including barbie dolls), the HBO and Showtime specials, the movie "Crossroads", the endorsements (Pepsi and Sketchers) - the list goes on. What Lady GaGa is experiencing now doesn't compare to what I've described. Britney was also a part of the MTV generation when MTV actually did play music videos as well - so that created more pandemonium in Times Square when she would show up for 5 minutes. I just don't see Lady GaGa getting the same treatment.

As far as the virgin thing - well, Britney was NEVER seen as safe. Parents hated her and bitched about her to no end. Religious groups were burning her first album! an album from a 16 year old girl, at that.

Of course right now Lady GaGa is bigger than Britney, because she's the new "It" girl - but Britney is also established meaning she's weeded out the casual fans at this point where as GaGa doesn't have a stable fanbase yet - we have no idea who will stick with her for the next 10 years - but even if they do, you can bet someone else will come out and be the "It" girl while GaGa is only selling a fraction of what they are bringing in.

The Clear Channel blacklisting is true - that's why there were never any hits from "Britney" and why Concerts West promoted the tour rather than Clear Channel. Britney always made up for underperforming singles in album sales though.

"Toxic" came after the "Britney" album.
