My review of the m5-magnum razor... and an electric shaver question.

I feel like I'm ripping my skin off. That's all I can say to the m5-magnum razors I found. Not sure if these are a new product but they've only just appeared around here and have not even hit Wal Mart or CVS yet. Basically a clone of the Fusion - 5 blades, soft pad, trimmer edge. Big bonus is the blades are CHEAP! Costs $5.83 for a 4 pack compared to $12-14 for a 4 pack of Fusion razors.

Well after 2 weeks I'm throwing it away. Literally burns my skin if I don't shave regularly every day and wait to do 2 days worth of facial hair. Developed plenty of little bumps from ingrown hairs now as well.

I'm over them. I'd like to try another avenue to go with an electric.

What is a good electric shaver brand or type?
Better to shave dry or with cream?
    Foil vs Rotary?
What do you use? (for those who don't do only manual)

    The offending crap brand:

I use a norelco 'lift and cut' rotary... Have for over 15 years. Will never go back to wet shaves. No prep required... Just pick up the razor and start shaving. Once used to the process (takes about 4-6 weeks), you will find your shaves are as close or closer than blades. I like my skin super dry with no pre-shave lotion. Two days growth gives a great shave but of course I have to shave every morning.... shaves are close on a daily basis as well. Go for it.

While on the topic of shaving.

Has anyone used or have an opinions on ''The Art Of Shaving' products?

    Thanks in advance!

I keep a tube of the shave cream always. It's pretty great.
Their shave oil is good too, but you have to rinse off a little more afterward.
    They are pricey, though.

Great! Thanks, yea I noticed that...icon_sad.gif, but it's a minor investment I guess.

I will need to start shaving pretty much everyday for my job. I have seen it recommended highly, so I think I might take the plunge and go for it. I have been trying to shave in the same manner with L'Oreal for men products but I still get some razor burn and that's a no go at the job.

I struggled for years to find a decent razor that did the job and didn't give me severe razor burn, along with trying every Nivea and similar branded products. After throwing away the blade and trying a few different electric (dry) razors, I ended up settling on the Braun Series 7 Pulsonic.

It's far from the cheapest on the market, but it's the best I've found. I need to have a close shave everyday and I'm heavily bearded and this does the job. without leaving a rash.

$150 for a razor and a set of blades?

What's the reasoning behind the products that makes it worth the price.

I find that with most products the store brand or budget brand is usually just as good as the name brand. With razors, however, this is not the case. You have to stick with the name brand if your skin is sensitive.

Yea it's not cheap at all, but I saw a guy on Youtube who used it and I highly recommended it and did some research and everyone has the same opinion. So, I think I will start with the start kit and see how it goes, and give you a report later! icon_smile.gif
