Why is it so difficult to find a presence on Realjock?

I have been on this site for a year now and when I joined I didn't expect much from it because I was not very muscular. But as I spend more time on this site I realize more and more there seems to be this unpenetratable barrier on here, where it is more like a gay bar. People find their clicks of who they want to associate and exclude others. On the suface this site seems very inviting, but I notice just trying to contact people and chat about fitness can be difficult to even get a responce from someone. The forums are even worse. You put a forum or ven a reply to a forum out there and no one replys no matter how good your comment is.

I was initially trying to forge the kind of relationships on here like the ones I've formed with my (straight) gym buddies at my small gym. Offering each other advice and encouragement. Big or small no one shuns each other at my gym. Big, buff guys openly associate with smaller (beginners).

Its like if you don't have a six pack no one will talk to you on here. Whats up with that? And before anyone says it. Please spare me the headless profile bullshit, because there are plenty of headless guys on here who get lots of attention. Anyway, just a little rant / obsertvation. Has anyone else noticed this? Give me your thoughts, experiences, or comments.

I can't argue your experience on this site...it is yours alone and unique....
Still, it has been my experience in over three years on this site that you generally get what you give...... and this isn't a "hook up" site like "A4A of Manhunt". Remember that this is no substitute for ACTUAL HUMAN interaction, like you are getting in your small comfortable friendly gym..... Face pics DO help..you aren't wearing a mask in the gym I bet!...so beyond bitching about being ignored on RJ what do you want to talk about? This is as much a "serious" site as it is a funny light or quirky site....members make it spin and you never know what the collective mood is at any given moment...so keep trying! Take Care and ..."if at first you don't succeed....try, try again!" icon_lol.gif

    Comon dude,
This site is a small representation of what you experience in your personal life and prob a little worse. Everything about this site is focused on image and that's why many join initially. Most guys that wrkout or attempt to, have a appreciation for ppl who do the same. Of course clicks form ppl have been members since 2007 and look forward to engage w/ someone they've found likeness w/ over that period of time. You didn't think you were going to possibly insert yourself and be buddy buddy so easily. Nothing good ever happens quickly. The forums are diverse w/ personality and range frm members posting two guys getting engaged and rants about the authenticity of our presidents birth place. Not everyone here will respond to you w/ open arms and I'm sure you've encountered this already in life so why would you ever think this would be any different? Your on a site where half the pics are of well shaped abs or pretty faces and although some can see past all that.....the othersicon_rolleyes.gif No one here can affirm your presence so while your here, how ever you decide to contribute yourself, make the most of it.

Hey.. if I can make stuff happen here, you surely can!! 6-pack... I don't think so. Gym..haven't been in a year, and even then, it's only for cardio. Haven't checked yet to see when you joined..but I think you haven't given the guys on RJ enough credit OR time to get to know you.
When I FIRST joined..back in Dec. 2009 (under a different profile) I was immediately pounced on by some guy who "wined and dined" me to the point I didn't feel the need to meet anyone else. After he showed his true colors..and what an asshole he was... I came back for the original reason I signed up for RJ to begin with.. to meet new guys and to have some friends.
Just give it some time..and ignore the stupid remarks from guys like that SnowBoard clown.

My sole purpose for joining realjock was the forums. This site is a representation of real life, you always get a mixture of good and bad. If i was you i would just engage the members with intellect and ignore the assholes.

    Make it your own
Befriend the guys you wanna talk with
If you're gonna put expectations on it where everything will just be so Peachy-keen if you can get the hot guys to talk with you
...... well then you're setting yourself up for failure then aren't you
If that's the case it's not RJ's fault
You wanna post something that's interesting to you?
    Post It
If no one responds .... just say gee maybe no one is interested
    and move on
Because believe me if you post something that the guys like .... they'll respond
    It's not a popularity contest
and if you have a question on training I am sure the guys here will come out and offer advice
icon_cool.gif May not be Good advice but advice nonetheless

I think you are overreacting. Sure, there are always a few that won't or don't respond or aren't very friendly... and I don't talk to them much. But most here are friendly or reasonable. I've never had a problem really.

My suggestion is participate in the forums. If you make an effort, eventually you will be rewarded.

everyone's sprinkling his thoughts like bits of seasoning but as a result they just get lost in the general flavor... to be expected, why the fuss.

anyway your 6pack seems to be shaping up, so expect fame and glory in the near future .

I don't take it that seriously. I only come on here for entertainment. It's like I don't let people on here have any affect on me. I only come on here when I've smoked some marijuana. icon_smile.gif

I don't think I've made any friends on here.
There's a handful of guys who have shared my opinion on a number of topics, and they've sent kind, supportive messages to me.
Also, there's the guys who have responded to the way my body looks.
But, the main thing is that I tend to be a loner.
I have a big mouth and love to voice my opinions, so I enjoy taking part in the forums.

I think you might want to look within for this one mate. What kind of image are you putting out there? No offense, but you asked for thoughts- your post here reminds me of "Debby Downer".I believe that each of us should first look inside themselves for answers and then, as a follow up.....look inside themselves for answers. Stop blaming this internet site and the people on here.

    My 2 cents.

If uve been on this site for about a year and checked the forum posts carefully u should know better that most regular posters are far from being muscular or having a six pack, everyone on the forum is treated pretty much equally if their comments are equally worthy. If anything muscular guys come off as arrogant and attention whores here even if they really aren't. They sometimes get ignored or judged frequently by other posters. But again, on this forum the quality of ur posts is what really matters if u look for replies.

Totally untrue, at least for me. But maybe that's just me.

I don't have a 6-pack, I'm old, out of shape, overweight, unattractive, and I clash with lots of guys here who have right-wing political views. And about other things, too.

But I've made a ton of friends, met a number of guys in person, and e-mail with guys all the time.

I will give you a quote from Shakespeare's Julius Caesar, that I used to have framed in all of my US Army offices for years:

    CASSIUS:
"The fault, dear Brutus, is not in our stars, but in ourselves..."

Take charge, be in charge, make it happen. You want friends? Then go out and get them. RJ is ripe with potential friends, and quality ones. Make it happen.
