maybe they'll give him a $448,000 annual pension for life for such "passionate service," upgrading his badge.

.... at taxpayer's expense of course, yours, mine, and deaf guy's taxes included

.. then claim the taxes are needed for our "safety" (read: their inflated salary and pension) icon_cool.gif

And the guy doing the tackling probably went home and bragged to all his friends about his macho he was. It would probably cost them less in risking shoplifters than the hundreds of thousand, if not millions, the store might lose when they're sued.

Is this person a shop detective or an actual police man?

It's crazy that they are allowed to cuff or even restrain them.

what they're doing looks pretty illegal to me icon_eek.gif

who the hell is the guy doing the choking??? a shop detective? and all the uniformed guys... are they cops or also just security guards??

I think even if a real police officer were to restrain a person like that, for something as lame as shoplifting, he'd be in trouble

    Shop Detective/LP

No cops were involved in this from what I gathered.

Its hilarious the depths of your stupidity, what part of "in store rent-a-cop" don't you get?

    These were LP's.

The man was deaf, set off an alarm and didn't show his receipt, he had no idea he set off the alarm and to be honest, you are to required to show your receipt. Forcing you to open your bag and check your receipt is a violation of our civil liberties, thats CORPORATE AMERICA for you icon_smile.gif

Because in our society it's weirder to see anyone do something about it than it is for everyone to just watch it happen.

You win the internet for not only posting a cover of the most bad ass comic ever, but for stating truths.

The video does not show what happened prior to the man being restrained, so you have no idea what the circumstances of this incident were, except for those claimed by the poster of the video.

I cannot believe how naive, gullible and quick to rush to judgment some people are.

OMG What the hell happened there. My parents are both deaf and I would bash the shit out of anyone who attempted to tackle them like that. I'm so pissed at what I just saw, how the hell can security guards think they have the right to do that! Maybe it's the difference between Australia and the US, they could not get away with doing that shit here. And what was the deal with everyone standing around and doing nothing, especially those taking videos on their phones. Weak pathetic M##ther F##kers!

That's exactly why I haven't stated my opinion on this yet. The story is not complete.

Yeah, we can't know exactly what happened. All we know is what we can see is a deaf guy getting choked out for stealing items from a store. It'd be different if he were fighting back or resisting arrest or something before but even then, to get choked out? When is that ever an acceptable form of restraint?icon_confused.gif

The man appears to be being restrained and he is struggling. I do not know if he is being choked or if he is being held in a headlock and is choking himself by struggling. Nor do I know if he is trying to flee the scene or whether he has committed any crime. I do not know if the guy restraining him is using reasonable force to effect a lawful arrest. (Civilians can arrest and use reasonable force to do so, in certain circumstances.) I do not know the full facts of this incident and, if you are relying only on the information in this video, neither do you.

Regardless, you don't choke someone like that. If someone was choking me like that I would break their arm.

They all SERIOUSLY need to be in jail right after their asses are beat..that is very sick and disturbing choking a deaf person or anyone for that matter, for pulling an alarm, even if he did pull the alarm that still doesn't give these dumb asses the right to abuse their authority he should of just handcuffed him period.icon_evil.gif
