Which is your favorite gym in San Francisco, because of the atmosphere, or equipment, or training philosophy...or because it has a great view???

I'm staying at Union Square during my visit, so closeby would be nice but I'll gladly bus it to some great spot.

My interest is personal ofcourse, because I love a good workout, but also professional as I've owned and managed gyms.

    All recommendations appreciated.

Sports Club/LA is probably the best gym that is close to Union Square. Their cardio area overlooks Market so it's a good place to people watch.

If you're looking for gay your best option is to take Muni down to the Castro and go to the Golds in the Castro. The Golds on Brannan is also very gay but it's a bit harder to get to via public transportation.

World Gym is a great, no frills gym with people who actually are there to work out.

Billy and Mike from Diakadi Body do the boot camps on Atlantis trips, and are on this site as well.

Billy's profile on here is under sf_athlete

Billy and Mike are AMAZING trainers, fun, insightful, sexy, and the gym has TONS of 5-star reviews.

Guys, THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH. I'll probably visit all of them.

I like the idea of 'fitness tourism' . Though I love food, I'm not as drawn to an area's fine dining as I am to a city's fitness offerings.
