Remember me guys, that Malaysian fellow who use to be here. I have since leave RJ, not because I what to, but because I have too. For some reason I cant enter this site in my country. I keep getting the message that the "site decline". Only when I am outside Malaysia , (I am in Singapore now), that I can excess it. What happen? Government censorship, certain unknown restriction ? It a pity really , because I love and enjoy this site every much. A few other site suffer the same faith like/;x tube .

Anyway, its been really nice to know you guys. Next time I am outside Malaysia I sure will enter RJ, just to see how everybody doing. Please , answer this post if you wish. Next time I am outside Malaysia border , (really often), I will check out the respond

    Goodbye

Actually I have no idea who you are. But it still sucks that you have to leave due to your country's fucked up rules. icon_sad.gif

Not an internet guru...but I don't understand how any country/government can actually censor something on the WWW. I understand that it DOES happen...just don't understand the technical way they can do it.
    Totally sucks!!! .icon_sad.gif

Hey zach, hopefully someone will see this topic and offer a way around the gov't filters. Another guy was here with the same problem in another country and several guys told him how to get around it.

If we can locate the old topic we'll post up a link. lol, unfortunately there's a lot of old topics! (gulp!)

I know Zak here, we had many pleasant RJ email chats, mostly about our common interest in motorcycles. And sharing our cultural experiences in our own and different countries. That's one of the things that repressive governments fear about the Internet, and why they block it: to prevent their citizens from learning about other people and how they live.

But aren't they're ways to get around these filters, like relaying the content through other innocuous sites that haven't been blocked? I'm not knowledgeable about these things, but maybe someone here like lilTanker can advise Zak.

And even if Zak can't access RJ at home, why terminate the membership, unless retaining it puts him at personal risk. Even using it only on foreign trips is better than nothing, until the block is lifted, or an alternate path is found. I'd say don't quit yet.

If you have a smart phone can't you access it there? Your phone firewall goes through your provider's correct?

It really sucks that you can't access RJ in your own country. I thought Malaysia was a somewhat progressive place. At least you can check in when you're out of the country fairly often, and I hope you are able to travel frequently. BTW, I LOVE the t-shirt.

    Zak,
Very sorry to hear this.. certainly have enjoyed your posts over time. Maybe something will change and you will be able to access the site, it would be a shame that you have to leave over censorship.

    Our best!

well, im suffering with the same thing. I'm using my cellphone to visit this site. Thank God someone taught me how to hack my mobile service provider to get free mobile internet. icon_smile.gif

Regarding your problem, i recommend you use ninjacloak.org to visit rj. It cloaks your IP address so that goverment ban thing in your country wont know you are from malaysia. And the best thing is its free.

Hope it solves your problem. icon_smile.gif

    Hey Zak:
That situation sucks. At least you get to Singapore regularly.

I was in Africa earlier this year, couldn't access RJ in Tanzania, Kenya or Uganda. Was able to access ManHunt in those countries. Go figure.

I knew about China's ridiculous internet censorship but I didn't know Malaysia was censoring GLBT sites also. Interesting yet sad... hope you can find some way to get around this.

Then I'm puzzled by the post from cromi. And miss posts from Sedative in any case, who is one of the smartest and most articulate members we have here. I miss his participation in recent months a great deal.

    Will an anonymizer work?

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anonymizer

Is http://anonymouse.org blocked for you as well?
There are many similar sites that you may be able to try.

Try a web emulator thingy like posted before. Some people can't access sites at work, so there are always ways to get around block.

I recall reading about this as an undergraduate doing a lot of international relations research on Internet policy. I am fairly certain that the Malaysian government is either censoring the site itself or is having ISPs censor the site on the behalf of the government.

I'm also fairly certain that it is because it is a site geared towards homosexuals. Malaysia isn't a gay-friendly country - more than likely facilitated by the saturation of Islamic beliefs within the government itself. Sorry icon_sad.gif

I am sorry to hear this. Freedom of speech is the most important freedom we have. One day even the Malaysian government will find that out.
