starting now, if i get an email or an im from someone asking me to vote them MOTD, you're getting blocked.

this is kinda ridiculous, i didn't know everyone was campaigning to become man of the day, it's not like you win an award or anything icon_cry.gif

hope everyone had a marvelous weekend otherwise!

Nothing is free in life. If someone asks you to vote for them to be MOTD, then you should ask for nude pics in return. icon_lol.gif

I don't mind Bello's post, but I am in agreement I don't like the emails begging for votes.

Actually, I agree. I love the MOTD concept...and there have been some really deserving folks who have received it recently, notably, but not limited to, meninlove and Lostboy.

But it is starting to look like the ballot box is being stuffed by organized voting blocks. It's kind of funny, but too much of a large fish in a small pond kind of thing.

I am hoping that voters actually take a look at the profiles of the nominees and not just the pictures.

Bello's posts can be very annoying. We've called him out on them a few times.

My point was not to rag on anyone really into this, though.

I hate to see this thread devolve into that. There seems to be a lot of passion on this topic. icon_eek.gif

My point was that if you read the actual profiles of some of the nominees, you might see some interesting things. One of the nominees for tomorrow is trying to work his way through medical school. At the same time he's an accomplished personal trainer and dedicated to his own fitness. In other words, when you read through his profile you can see he's more than a pretty face (and, man, he is that too).

{So, of course, based upon all of that, plus the conversations he and I have had, I voted for him].

I won't vote for anyone for MOTD unless I know them pretty well, either by direct RJ contact (meaning, emails) or Forum posts. I have yet to vote for someone just because they asked for votes or were merely handsome/built/hot.

I agree 100% with everything you say here fastprof. (I think I am going to have to vote for you for MOTD!)

I have talked on the forums about others who might deserve to be MOTD in my humble opinion...
    but never myself.

I never expect to be, I never ask to be, and I am always pleasantly surprised when I am voted MOTD which has been 5 times already.

I couldn't imagine writing someone to ask them to vote for me, and I cringe when someone asks me to vote for them.

    amen.

thankfully (thankfully?) no one's emailed me asking me to vote for them as man of the day. and I think I've only been voted for once (someone's mouse must've slipped when they were trying to click on the Fort Troff Banner below my screen name)

Ditto. It's just pandering that cheapens a nice perk on RJ, and gives the whole thing the feel of a rejected script for "Glee".
I just took somebody off my pal list for soliciting, once for themselves - which i let go - but then for someone else, which just seemed like the only thing they wrote to me about so...icon_rolleyes.gif
