i started working out 3 weeks ago at the gym (as opposed to a trainer)
    4 times a week,

just wondering, after how long should i expect to see a significant difference?

Well if you read my above post, it took me about a month and half before I saw changes. I think it would help if you took measurements. Changes can be tricky to notice, especially early on

    Good luck!

Expect around a month before changes are visible in the mirror.
That could be sooner or later depending on a variety of factors.

take pics now, you will see much better like that rather than trusting to memory.

it depends on the individual, but 3 months should give you noticeable changes, to get the results you are reasonably capable of takes upwards of 5 years... (ie to end up with something close to your best body)

btw 4 days a week is plenty... ideal spacing would be either
    on
    on
    off
    on
    on
    off
    off

    or

    On
    off
    on
    off
    on
    on
    off
