A humiliating fall, should I work out or wait?

I was hiking near a waterfall on a favorite trail of mine the other day. I stepped on a huge wet slanted rock and my feet flew completely out in front of me and I landed straight down on my lower back and butt. It hurt so damn bad and I was completely embarrassed even though no one saw, haha.

I am in pain and can't lay on my back or right side, I have to sleep on my left side. I looked in the mirror the other day and my lower back and whole right ass cheek is completely black and bruised.

I can walk around fine and etc and just waiting for it to heal.

This may be a stupid question but do you think it would be any harm in my working out while I have this going on back there? My bf is about to have a fit because I want to go work out and he says Im "injured" and need to rest.

    What do you think?

I think asking a medical question of this level of seriousness on a non-medical forum could cause more problems than it helps.
I'd suggest seeing a doc. Never fuck with your back. icon_wink.gif

Go and see your GP. Given you're in the US, he'll no doubt give you a veritable cornucopia of narcotic delights icon_twisted.gif

Even lifting weights with your upper body can put pressure on your spine. If you have trouble bending, or sitting, I would see a doctor for xrays. If you're not feeling any pain now, besides topical soreness from the bruising, then still give it a week at least. Injuries that involve connective tissue can sometimes take a bit to reveal themselves. Like being in a car wreck.. sometimes you feel fine just after the wreck, but a few days later you're aaaaall fucked up.

    Good luck!

thanks guys for the advice, my back feels fine other than the severe bruising. I was considering going to the dr but feel fine. Even if I did fracture my tail bone or anything theres nothing they can do about it.

It feels alot better today, but the bruising is what concerns me the most, its really bad and black.

Other than that, I have gone back to work and feel fine, full movability and etc in my back, no pain in my joints or anything.

I would talk to my doctor before doing anything, and Rest is super important for injuries.
