Am I the only person who takes the time to spell words correctly and use proper grammar? Seriously... It's annoying as hell to me when I see people use the wrong your or there.

Their are a few of us but knot many.

With only 17 posts so far from you, we haven't had much chance yet to see whether you can practice what you preach.

It doesn't bother me. I'm probably guilty of both, but then again English is not my first language.

I try to keep it clean, as much as I can. I definitely do not use the wrong there/their or you're/your, etc.

I'm not trying to say that I'm perfect or anything. When I'm typing in an IM I don't capitalize anything, and there are the times when I've been known to word things funny. But I can say that I generally have pretty decent grammar. And spelling to me is something I used to have so much fun with, so it's kind of natural to me.

To me, spelling is more aggravating to me than grammar. It's like someone hits a nerve in my spine every time I see "Oh yeah, there food is really good." Or, even worse, "Your doing it wrong." icon_evil.gificon_evil.gificon_evil.gif

I try to spell correctly and to use proper grammar but I get annoyed when some grammar queen pops into a forum just to correct another poster's spelling or grammar.

TheGuyNextDoor saidOnce, I had a client that was a grammar nazi and I was in a hurry and sent an email where I accidently wrote recieved instead of received...
She was so focused on that one misspelled word that she replied...
I don't know Tony... how do spell received???
She was so mad, she forget to type "How do you spell recieved"
I laughed so hard at her.. I couldn't help but write back...
I don't know Leslie.. How Do Spell? ...icon_cool.gif

In formal writing situations (i.e. work or important personal business) I can be rather fussy about my grammar and wording.

On the net though, I am more relaxed - though the excessive misuse of your/you're and they're/there/their might or might not prickle my skin. It depends on the context and the speaker somewhat... and in texting/tweeting, all bets are off.

Your/you're quickly merge into Ur along with many other mangulations of Her Majesty's English, lol

To those who judge grammar & punctuation: your resentment is delicious

Though I do spell and write correctly and wish people would make the small effort to distinguish between there and its friend and it´s and its homophone: two and to bother me too.

The edit function here is your friend. I frequently go back and fix my posts. I rarely make spelling mistakes, but I leave out individual words rather often.

Other times, I go back to make the phrasing more elegant (as if anyone here cares or notices) or just more effective, or to add something I forgot to say (or to delete something I've decided is better left unsaid).

As others have suggested, there are lots of intelligent people who can't spell. Of course, there's spell check, which will catch most mistakes, but many people don't take the time to use it.

Anyway, I think that some of us here do care about spelling and grammar. There are some people here who write well, along with many who don't.

Meanwhile, what you did with the quote function was kind of strange, resulting in what you see at the top of this post.

Maybe they just don´t like bad spelling. My mother fusses over where the forks go, but when it comes to something big she´s very relaxed.

I will say this in my best grammer and punctuation possible. If you don't like it, then I would suggest that you don't participate in these boards. There is no way that your complaining about the situation will make the slightest bit of change!

    I suggest you ignore it.

    enjoy!

i agree with you. i try my best to speak correctly even though i'm not even from a country has english as the main language.

one day i saw stunned, when a group of british students visited our high school, they attended and english class i had and one kid asked me how to write many words when we had to do a composition
