We've all heard of twinks, bears, cubs, otters, wolves, etc. Let's have some fun and come up with more. Maybe they will catch on and we'll know this was ground zero.

Is there a label yet for tall, slender white guys? How about 'birch'?

yarr, knew that too. They probably referred it to the classic Maori appearance. No offense to Kiwis here though ;)

I thought the term Kiwi referred to anyone from NZ, just like Aussie meant anyone from Australia?

Maybe tall slender guys should be storks, or cranes.

    WHY?

Why label? is it not the process of labelling that most of the disscussions on realjock have been about?

About how they split the gay community? how we stereotype and discriminate against others?

Yeah, you'll reply that its just a bit of fun, but we all know where that will end up.

Labelling is the worst form of bullying. Regardless of how fun you think it might be there will always be a victim

You might decide to call, tall skinny guys 'beanpoles'

how about the skiiny tall guy that spends all his time in the gym, or eating food, to gain bulk, so he can look and feel comfortable with other tall and built guys, but he suffers because he was given an ungodly high metabolism and stays skinny and lean. By forcing this label on him you force a hatred on to that person, a self loathing that eats away at his confidence because he just wants to be like everyone else.

LABELS FUCKING SUCK IN ALL TERMS

Categorise me if you dare because i will break every mold you force on me.

Yeah, like poor terra22 who is distraught over being labeled a Twink! icon_eek.gif j/k

Surfwarrior, I don't think there will ever be a time when we don't have labels. Though I can see that it can be used harmfully, it can also be used to help bolster a person's sprits (like, he's a total hunk!) and it's also necessary to distinguish individuals. How would you describe someone without labels?

I really think we take all of this too seriously since it's more about opinion then anything else. One man's twink is another man's Adonis.

I do feel that coming up with mean spirited labels is wrong but I don't think that was Timberoo's intent. Although I'm sure there are mean spirited individuals who will take the opportunity to reply. We have a label for them too... idiots.

By the way terra22, if you come by this post, I think you're a total hottie and not just another twink. icon_wink.gif

Regardless of the intent of a label, it causes division.

There may always be labels, and discrimination, but do you want to see an end to it or just live with it?

The breaking down of social stereotypes and discrimination and bullying starts with the individual
If you ever want to see a time were these bahaviours are gone it has to start from within.

Right or wrong choice, how a person lives there life is not up to me or you, but i would like to think that someday there will be a movement towards unity and peace.

    Where does it start?

Some people have started, some don't want to, some choose not to.

Me, i dispise labels, i always have, you cannot undertand the complexities of the individaul with one stick on label.

I've never been perfect about this issure, but i chose to start when i begun to accpet myself.

    LABELS SUCK

Surfwarrior, while I understand what you're saying, I think you're sponse to this post is a little over-the-top. Timberoo chose to start a light-hearted topic that we all can hve fun with.

removing lables from society is a bit unrealisitic. Labels halp us beeter understand what we're seeing, hearing, feeling, whether they're accurate or not. Yes, they can lead to stereoptypes and assumptions, but to say that labels are flat out negative is based on emotion and not logic.

I think Timberoo is a great guy. I've just labelled him. Is that bad? Is it a negative label? No. I like wearing Gucci, it's very Euro. Where is the negative connotation there?

Everytime you look at a guy and think he's hot, or everytime you look at a guy and think he isn't, you're labelling them.

To dream of a day where there are no labels, to 'work' towards that is idealistic and highly unrealistic.

Besides...labels and words only hurt if we let them. Why is that Gays/Lesbians have embraced fag, queer, dyke, fairy, etc...? Because certain brave folks some time back (and we may never know who those heroes are) decided not to feel hurt any longer and use those terms to empower themselves and our community...Just as Blacks/African Americans adopted a certain "n" word as an empowering term.

If you don't like a term/label...Own it and it can't hurt you any longer.

There I was trying to simplify life and you throw in shades of gray. lol

maybe just labels everyone as "growers" or "showers"? at least then you'd know what you are in for!

or maybe label everyone as "ONSs"(one night stand) or "LTRs" (long term relation)? but then you will be asking about "CFBs" (casual f*ck buddies)

maybe innocent and kinky? lol sounds better than pig.

Labels are just an easy way to identify people with common interests.

Myself and a friend have coined the term "DANDELION"

All fluffy and flowery... a whole lot of pretentious pomp and circumstance, but in the end, all you really are is a weed...

How many have seen/known someone like that?? LOL

I read DC and Image, too, so Marvel may be misleading.
