Here in South Florida, our residential land-line phone is ringing almost constantly. Most of the calls are recorded political advertisements.

We're listed for call blocking from telemarketers, and we pay for AT&T Privacy Directory service. Apparently the politicians in Washington have exempted political calls from this. We'd cancel the residential phone, but we need it to control access to our condo through the entry intercom.

We even get political calls from Massachusetts, where my partner was born, those he hasn't lived there since 1969, and doesn't vote there! It's fucking ridiculous.

And most of our mail lately has been political flyers. I've never experienced anything like this. Anyone else seeing similar, in other parts of the US?

Thank Gaud for caller id! if i don't recognize the number, they can talk to the voice mail.

during the "political season" i get loaded with pre-recorded political messages...even though i am registered as an "independent" voter and have only a cell phone now. icon_rolleyes.gif

Well we have caller ID, too, and don't pick up these things. But they still go to our answering machine, and then we have to screen and delete it. Even the ones that the caller ID says are "Privacy Director" that we thought were totally blocked, still go onto our answering machine. Damn politicians, making special exemptions for themselves, or using some kind of override to the Privacy Directory filter, that only emergency & police services are supposed to have...

It's rather freaking annoying this time of the year! I just ignore any incoming calls that I don't recognize, but it's still an annoyance, especially the calls from the stupid Republicans. What part about "no" don't they understand?
