The home botton stopped working, it seems as its pushed down permanently, and obviously if i enter any app, I have to turn of my 1st Gen Ipod to exit the app.

Now after trying desperetly to fix it (by pushing it harder) I seek for help on the internet and here are the answers I got.

    1. Its a software problem ...... doesnt seem to be the case, since I restore the ipod, and bought the newest software and nothing

2 Its the botton but the Ipod Store can fix it for $100 ...... mmm thanks but I rather buy a new one

    3. You can emulate the home function with an app, but you have to jailbreak the ipod........ sounds complicated but i guess I'll have to try

So now, here I am, again, seeking your words of wisdom before maybe permanetly screwing my ipod software, do you have another alternative for me to try?

has this happened to you or someone you know? IS THERE ANYWAY TO FIX IT?

thanks, I hope you have some answers... ohhh as I learned on the internet that Ipods have a lifetime of aprox 3 years, and then things like this happens. two words: CLASS ACTION!

Which iPod do you have? That would help... coz I can't understand exactly which button is broken. Maybe if you post a picture it will help. icon_wink.gif

I've had this iPod since 2004- 6 yrs now and it still works, has all my music still in it, but the battery only lasts a few minutes. I'll always keep it

    or this

    http://www.wideanglesoftware.com/touchcopy/index.php

ive used both tto salvage my music from my dying ipod a couple years ago and put all the music back on my new one later

Somebody already suggested it, but let me second Digiexpress.com. A few weeks ago I somehow managed to crack the screen of my ipod Touch 1st Gen. I sent it to Digiexpress having prepaid their $25 assessment fee. Within a couple of days that sent me the estimate for the repair ($39). Today - a couple of weeks later - it came back all fixed. In the meantime I got an iPhone 4 (thank you, Puppy80 :winkicon_smile.gif. So now my son gets a hand me down iPod Touch.

How old is it? Do you have an Apple Store near you that can check it out for you? Even if you didn't buy it at an Apple Store, they'll provide service. Just make sure to make an appointment through the Apple website at your location.

My first iPod stopped working one day in the massage room, so I offered to just sing for the client...uncomfortable silence...

Anyway, the unhappy face appeared in the middle of the screen! I checked the manual and shortly found out that it was a catastrophic error = new iPod.icon_rolleyes.gif

I wore mine running last week and it rained...not really heavy rain but enough to silence my iPod!!!!

I've done everything the website suggests but just completely dead!

I'm actually enjoying running and working out without it...who needs em really!

couldn't you just purchase a new battery and replace it yourself?

I'm amazed that the hard drive in that thing still works! Mine died long ago. I was going to get parts and fix it, but it was cheaper to just buy a newer model.

I think it's still in the bottom of the junk drawer, if anybody needs one for parts.
