I just moved to Los Angeles and hopefully will be living in Culver City. What are the best gyms for gay guys who want to get buff?

Ballys is full of homos and drama all of which you want to avoid at the gym. They are all pretty ghetto from what I know.

    Try LA fitness

There's an LA Fitness near where I am living... I plan to check it out.
By the way, I am new to town too! Where are you living?

Easton Gym on Beverly and just east of Fairfax is really nice. Very unpretentious and neighborhoody, with a classy as hell locker room. But it's also kind of pricey.

If you like chain-gyms, I can vouch for the 24 Hour fitness in the Arclight complex. It's clean and well-stocked, if crowded.

I know the 24 Hour Fitness in WeHo is supposed to be a pit, with its "24 Hour Bathhouse" reputation, but it's full of homos if that's your primary criteria.

A bunch of the super fit fags I know work out at Gold's in Hollywood. You'll find a lot of the WeHo Muscle Mary-types here. You'll also find a lot of insular, cliquey drama.

I've never found a gym in LA I love. Which is probably why I invested in turning my garage into a fully stocked gym.

Check out the Gold's downtown which isn't as crowded as the one out on Cole.
Both Golds gyms get a fairly serious crowd, but they can be a bit testosterone poisoned. The one on Cole is insanely business in the late afternoon.

I liked the Crunch up on Sunset also, but that was a few years ago - crowd was primarily gay, a little more trendy and young and fairly friendly. It also gets crowded in the late afternoon/early eve.

Way upscale is Equinox (also up on Sunset) - be prepared to shell out $$'s..

The 24 hour in WeHo is basically a sad rundown bathhouse - I haven't been in years but people tell me it has just gotten worse and worse. The 24 hour at the Arclight is better.

Awesome! Tomorrow I'm signing on a place in Culver City.

Keep in mind that membership price is VERY important. The lowest we can get, the better.

Spectrum Clubs are good, but they are pricy. 24 hr Fitness has different tier clubs. The Sport tier is a step up. Anyway you should have a good selection around Culver City.

Sahem - where did you end up? I posted in your thread several weeks ago. Did you find good accommodations with your dog?

Crunch on Sunset is nice. They are remolding it right now, so it's closed until the 28th I believe. I have been there for 4 years and I like it a lot. It's in the middle to upper price range, so it's not cheap

24 Hour Fitness offers the best value. And they have multiple locations. And they're open 24 hours, so you can go during off peak hours. I used to go to the 24 Hour Fitness in Santa Monica, near the airport. That place gets insanely crowded and parking is a bitch. But it's not so bad if you go in the late evenings. Lots of eye candy too. icon_lol.gif

I'm surprised no one has mentioned the Gold's in Venice....it is pretty close to Culver City.

Just stay away from the roids icon_smile.gif

Depending on specific location in Culver City, it's approximate 5-6 miles, which can mean up to 30 min depending on time of day. Obviously an excellent gym, but there are several much closer, including a Golds in Culver City.

I have a friend that has a home in Culver City and a beach house in Venice...if you know that right streets to go on you can get there much faster than that, assuming not a summer holiday....then traffic gets to a standstill in Venice.

I will say that I love to see how much Culver City has improved. It used to be a bad area....now it has become pretty trendy....thanks to companies like Sony.

I thought this was a funny video about the differences between the various gyms in West Hollywood and Hollywood.

When I'm in Los Angeles, I just use the Gold's Gym in Venice. Any other suggestions?

I plan on being back n LA in April and May.

    Thanks guys.
