Wow...I was just looking at the profile of todays MOTD and I'm just amazed at how much he can eat a day as well as how much muscle he can put on in one year.

I just noticed that the MOTD changed already...so I will add the link to the one that was there previously. I hope he does not mind. He is a personal trainer as well. http://www.realjock.com/pdx_traveler

Previously, I was told that you can put on a maximum of approx. 10 pounds of muscle on per year...and according to his profile, he has been able to put on more than 20 pounds of muscle on per year. Dang!!!!

Being that I'm a vegetarian, I just don't see how I could come up with 5,000 calories a day. And then there would be my second concern of how healthy it would be to eat 300 grams of protein a day. I would think that would be really hard on your kidneys.

What do you guys think about building up that quickly? Is it healthy? Is it safe?

Even with protein supplements, I find it hard to stomach more than about 180 to 200 grams of protein a day. I guess you just have to turn yourself into an eating machine if you want to consume 300 grams and 5000 calories a day.

in college i probably put away 4000 calories a day on average, but i also ran six miles every day, worked out for an hour in the gym every day, had sex almost every day and went to rehearsals for shows i was in most every day as well (choreography) and biked and walked everywhere. on tuesdays i made myself a special extra treat of downing an entire half gallon of turkey hill ice cream while watching roseanne.

and i had no body fat at all.

these days i keep to about 2000 calories a day, and half of that is typically from protein, and still can't shed the last five pounds of the 50 i put on back when i herniated my disk.

5000 calories of clean food is really really difficult. But 300 grams of protein is pretty easy, that's what I average per day. Although there was a week or two when my urine had excessive froth (protein in urine), then it disappeared when I changed to more pure WPI.

Please note that PDX_Traveler is 6 feet 5 inches tall, and a rather lean 215 pounds. Gaining 20 pounds for someone that tall isn't that impossible of a feat; LOOKING like you gained 20 pounds is way harder.
