Have you ever Hotlisted someone by mistake?

I did last week. I was looking at the profile of someone who I, er, don't see eye to eye with and who I don't find in the slightest bit attractive, and went to click on ... something ... not sure what ... saw the notification, panicked, and removed him from my list immediately.

Now he keeps bringing it up, endeavouring to suggest that it was a deliberate act.

If you've ever hotlisted someone accidentally, with a slip of the mouse, please share, so I won't feel so utterly and completely alone. And afraid. And cold. And desolate.

I'm assuming you missed the part where he said that's exactly what he did...

And now he wants to make a big deal about it because "HE DIDNT MEAN TO ADD ME OF COURSE" just like he didn't mean to support me in the posts I was doing at the time while posting mean posts about me on the same exact days. Don't tutor me on this guys behavior because I have been bothered by his presence since day one also.

I had no intention of revealing your identity. Opinionated though I may be, I'm values driven and have high levels of integrity. I have never clicked "ignore" or "reported" anyone. Ever. And never will. Touch wood.

And it was absolutely my intention to support you back then. I observed people bullying you for your poor grasp of the English language and turning it into an attack on your looks which is totally unacceptable.

Then you came out with a hateful diatribe that is even more unacceptable in my book, hence I lamented the fact that I had jumped so eagerly to your defence and given you the benefit of the doubt.

Surely I don't have to reiterate that my hotlisting was a mistake? One need only look at the guys on my Hotlist to be a good judge of that.

Only on Saturday night/Sunday morning it would seem.

The apology should surface sometime this evening GMT.

I have no life lately and fell asleep after Family Guy for the second week running.

I must say, it's rather entertaining, conversing with "Trolls" when one has a crisp, clear head and no need for Nurofen at this hour of a Sunday.

I have no idea who that person is, but they seem to have found the "block" button on my profile without a problem.

Oh, and yes I have, but the person never sent an email.

Having just looked at your profile, no one on this site is out of your league.

I really hope your kidding. Nobody should be "out of your league"...
I've never thought that way regarding another guy in my life. I'm always appreciative of all the hotlistings I receive and if I hotlist someone I mean it.

The only issue I ever had was once when I was hotlisted, I thanked the guy and he sent me a note..... "I bet you couldn't do it for me could you"?
I was sort of stunned so I just didn't say anything rather than have an awkward conversation.

The point was Mr. Eric... was he hotlisted me and sort of expected the same in return. It doesn't work that way.

I often surf the site from my phone and my thumb has slipped in the past causing me to unintentionally block members and also add at least one to my hotlist. With the blocks I removed the block right away. With the hotlist, I just kept it.icon_neutral.gif

If I had a dollar for every time I've accidentally clicked a button online (hotlist included), I'd be hotlisted every day just for being the richest guy on RJ.

What would it have cost you to just keep the poor guy on your hotlist for a bit. Are you afraid that the circuit party set will judge and expel you for having an ugly guy in your hotlist? icon_razz.gif

Lol, no, I was afraid of ... well, what happened actually. It rendered any disagreement with him invalid (in his eyes) as I'm clearly secretly in love with him.

I was gonna tease you about it.
    'aw, you like him, haha!'
Then I found out who it was...so never mind. Hes psycho, just block or report him, dont even be nice about it.

    Anyway...
I once hotlisted this guy, but I read an opinion he made about some thread, and it really ticked me off. So I took him off.

Is hotlisting the "wrong" person the equivalent of social death? I don't hotlist because it seems so high school, and if I did there wouldn't be enough hours in the day. Why DO people hotlist anyway? Is it a faster route to friendship and sex than forum posting, or a bookmark to private pleasure?

Well, maybe i've been using hot-list all wrong. I've used it to tag guys that I just think are attractive but doesn't mean anything about an intent or a desire to "hook-up", so to speak. I guess I should have been "buddy listing" or just not listing at all.

So, I've purged my hot-list after reading this (except for a handful that I've traded an email or two with) and moved a few to buddy list that are local that I've emailed, also.

I certainly don't want my actions to be misinterpreted. I'm new to this site and still learning my way around.

This is soo childish. Maybe you should have hired a Hot List Divorce Lawyer. icon_lol.gif
You actually "panicked and removed him from my list immediately."
