hey ya'll. many people hate figure skating cuz it's looks gay, but it's a sport in which men and women require athletic ability to perform the sport. many say that the only skaters that are gay are male figure skaters; which is not true. cuz many men in figure skating are straight, and there are gays, but not a lot. i wanna know if there are also gays in hockey. i have a friend who is straight and figure skates, but is always antigonized by hockey players. he even got in a fight and easily knocked one of them out. i really feel bad for him. are there any gay hockey players?

I'm sure there must be! I personally know pro gay jocks in baseball n football, but current players have to remain closeted. Also know some gay Olympic jocks. So, I'm sure there must be some in pro hockey! And probably more than SOME!

    Yep, there are...

    Look at this:

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Breakfast_with_Scot

"Breakfast with Scot is a 2007 Canadian comedy film. It is adapted from the novel by Tufts University professor Michael Downing.

The screenplay was adapted by Sean Reycraft from the book by Michael Downing, and the film was directed by Laurie Lynd. The film attracted significant press attention in 2006, when the National Hockey League and the Toronto Maple Leafs announced that they had approved the use of the team's logo and uniforms in the film.[1] Breakfast with Scot was the first gay-themed film ever to receive this type of approval from a professional sports league.[1][2]"

and read this article, which is about NHL players

Ah....3 years later, that's a good thing! I'm guessing the OP was referring to some level of professional play, not recreational.

There are a number of Hockey players who started off in figure skating, as it really improves skating ability, and therefore they can become better hockey players.

I've played hockey since I was 4 or 5 . . . and I'm definitely gay. As I got into middle and upper school it was clear that there were str8, bi and gay guys, and that was the same at uni and since then, the amateur leagues I've played in. Someone else said, "same as every other sport" - YUP!
