The AV Club and The Hollywood Reporter reveal that Mike "The Situation" Sorrentino of MTV's Jersey Shore is set to make five million dollars this year.

Learning this makes me cry inside.

If he's smart he won't buy $5 million worth of Ed Hardy and Affliction.

Good for him. I was noting this too my boyfriend the other day. The Situation has a whole bunch of eggs planted in all different kinds of projects. He is totally making the most of his 15 minutes of fame rather than most of the lame turds that come through reality tv. He is going to play up his persona to the hilt but in the end he is a smart businessman who will have a nice nest egg when his tits start sagging.

Alot of people may not like him but he has a charismatic presence about it unlike the other Jersey Shore cast members. I think of the rest only Snookie can really hope to pull any kind of extra fame out of this show.

Jersey Shore is harmless. And people love it. Why shouldn't he get rich?

Why not lament what Hannity must have pulled in this year?

Like really, what would Walter Cronkite and Woodword and Burnstein or whatever their names were, think of the people who find that information usefull or interesting? Who the fuck cares? How did stupid people who fuck around like drunken sailors become worthy of our interest, compared to the decaying US economy, the hurricanes moving in from the south Pacific, or that one that is about to hit the eastern seaboard of the USA? There's this thing called YOUR reality that could kill you.

I love how morons make 5 million dollars a year by making a fool of themselves on national TV. Yet, people who have important jobs... such as teachers and firefighters scrape by on nothing....

    WTF.

    Sour grapes? Yes.

I am only comforted by the fact that he will blow through the money very quickly and become a has been who has to sell off all of his assets bit by bit to sustain himself.
