    From Queerty:

Mason Wyler, the porn star and entrepreneur (real name: James Wallace), reveals he's HIV-positive in a blog post (all links NSFW), saying "I have only myself to blame. I have HIV and it kind of sucks." It was followed up the next day with a demand to "STOP" criticizing him and his sex life.
He writes: "I am a sex fiend. I am NOT a monster. So to the people who are spreading rumors that I have done otherwise, STOP. You are not saving anyone's life by talking about me so STOP. You can not equate countless hours spent browsing hook-up sites and blogging about my sexual desires online to a wild and irresponsible sex life offline so STOP. You don't know what I do in my private life so STOP. What you are saying about me could be considered defamatory so STOP. You have already done enough damage so STOP. Seriously. Just STOP."
The acknowledgment comes after a brewing porn "war" (AGAIN: links NSFW), which included stories of Wyler — who made rape allegations against an Army soldier in 2008 and has performed in bareback scenes — being fired from his own website, having his roommate (also a porn star) tweet that Wyler is "spreading disease," allegedly still cruising Adam4Adam with a profile that says he's HIV-negative, and having his status exposed by porn publisher Mark Wilson of Great Atlantic Media, which manages the websites of some of Wyler's fellow industry stars.
Supposedly it was in the name of safety for other performers.

Not passing judgement on Mason at all. Goodness knows I have had lapses in judgement in the past when I have been with guys. Thank goodness I am still HIV-.
I think it is pretty messed up though that someone else publicly 'outs' a person as HIV+.

    Remember guys: let's play safe!

Part of me feels bad for him, but all in all ... he's a douche. Regardless of his HIV status - Mason is a douchebag.

It sounds like the outer decided it was newsworthy because of the barebacking in movies and because there seems to be some continuing activity which may be dangerous for others.

Let's hope the man can get prope treatment and counseling and some support. No one deserves disease. And no one deserves to be villianized because they have a disease.

I Don't care for the guy I agree he is a douchebag. I haven't thought much of him since that time he claimed to have been raped then posted fake police reports on his blog. Then claimed he wouldn't be pressing charges. Then he tries to get a studio to film a reenactment of this so called rape.

Well, when selling gay porn is a part of your life, it's a tad newsworthy to some (like me). icon_biggrin.gif

Regardless whether you agree with his personal decisions and choices he made in his life, no one should have been outed this way at all.

I wish Mason the best in this next stage in his life.

And, in many jurisdictions, it is illegal. And, by disclosing someone's HIV+ status (or other protected health information) online, the poster may be violating the law in any and all jurisdictions which have laws and regulations which are in place to protect classes of individuals in unlawful use and disclosure of their health information.

In some cases it can be a felony punishable with up to 10 years in prison and up to $1.5million in fines FOR EACH OCCURRENCE.

Well if he is having sex with dozens and dozens of people they deserve to know. Anyone want to guess how many people he gave it too?

That sucks, but I'm finding it really hard to feel sorry for him.

it's new worthy, because someone other than mason revealed his seropositivity. because he's in porn people are acting as if he has no right to privacy, and that his other rights can be taken away from him as well. he isn't having sex with people and withholding his status from them. his situation was NOT like these others you guys have mentioned, and no one has the right to disrespect the privacy of his medical records.

icon_sad.gif wow... I've heard of him before, but I honestly don't keep up with gay porn community the way some guys do. I don't know much about him, but regardless of whether you like him or not, that has to be such traumatic news to get. As for his sexual practices, I won't jump on the judgement bandwagon. If he doesn't disclose his status or lies about it, as some have asserted, then he is wrong.

The other guys sleeping with him need take on some responsibility as well for their own respective safety. I think the 'outing' of his status is not endearing, and in a way, it feels like someone is trying to burn him for whatever reason/objective. Sadly, I think everyone will see him now, and their first thoughts will be... yeah, he's HIV+ In a way, it'll be de facto dehumanization

I honestly believe that "outing" him in the manner in which it was done is wrong. If you want to "out" his HIV status, at least report it to his sexual partners. You dont "out" him to everyone. I am not sleeping with Mason Wyler and dont need to know his status, and anyone who is sleeping with him should ask before the clothes come off. His sexual history is HIS, just as mine is MINE, and yours is YOURS. I think that principle should be respected.

File under: good intention, disastrous execution

Doesn't matter who it is or why, he gets my sympathy, even if he was being... less than smart.... and barebacking. No one deserves to hear the news "you are positive"... let alone having it told to the world against their will.

His partners would kinda need to know... so sure, the whole "outing" thing isn't nice and is legally questionable depending on whom the information had been revealed to, but at the end of the day, it probably did save someone from getting HIV... And aren't there certain regulations in place regarding HIV+ adult industry performers?

It reads like an early 1900's telegram.

"Dearest uncle STOP we are enjoying the maiden voyage STOP not enough lifeboats however STOP doesn't seem any bigger than the Mauritania STOP"

I don't know why all you guys don't care for the guy unless you know him personally.. Ok he's a pornstar. I know guys that do porn and just because they do doesn't mean they fuck every guy they see or live irresponsibly. Did he make some bad choices? Idk, I don't know the guy or his sex life and neither does anyone that isn't him.

Whether or not you like the guy or not, the fact that he is HIV positive is still sad and should never be wished on anyone. Just my 2 cents
