I used a condom for oral with my late partner because I knew he was poz. He understood that, and wanted it.

I obviously didn't like it, and looked for condoms that were unlubed with no anti-spermicide crap on them. And I wiped the condom down with a wet cloth after I put it on him, to minimize the bad tastes.

But latex condoms taste like a balloon in my mouth, not something I enjoy, and they can even make me gag. In the past, before I was partnered, I would blow guys au naturel, though I know that's not practicing strict safe sex.

Yet oral is relatively low risk. And so I took that chance, for my pleasure and for his. So you do your own risk assessment, and you decide.

Dental Dams are another alternative. Try and be monogamous with someone before ingesting their semen... Make sure they preform proper perineal care. Be safe. icon_wink.gif

no, never have. I think the chances of getting hiv through oral are small enough, to forget the rubbers. If you don't let him come in your mouth, it is still considered safer sex.

    Enjoy.

well, the chances of getting infected by sifilis are very high in unprotected oral sex, since you don't need a fluid for the infection, just the contact. Sifilis can be healed, with very painful injections (penicilin-G, very concentrated), when detected. If the infection is not detected, the damage it makes is irreversible (also after being treated). It ultimately kills you. There is an epidemy going on nowadays with sifilis, due to the popular thought that the only STD is AIDS.

What he said. A lot of people forget that HIV isn't the only STD. Do whatever makes you feel safe. Only you can decide what risks you are willing to take.

That said, regardless of your decision, one of the best things you can do for your health is to get a physical at least twice a year (with full blood work). Especially if you're a sex-aholic like me...(j/k)

When I put a condom on my partner, I like to unroll it with my mouth and blow him for a while.

there's also another thread on this question that I just saw http://www.realjock.com/gayforums/1126214/. I ditto the others that have talked about remembering that HIV is not the only STD to contend with. Educate yourself with the signs and symptoms of potential STDs that you can pick up if you go the route of bj's without a condom, and also that there are alternatives to condoms. Also, keep in mind that if you have degradation of your membrane lining in your mouth or open sores like canker sores, etc., the risk does increase that you can be infected with something. You can also use lube under the condom, and there are so many different types of condoms nowadays that are designed for better sensation. Essentially, it's the risks you're willing to take with your body...you're not guaranteed to get something or not get something, even if you do all the "right" things, or if you're riskier than someone else. Do what's comfortable for you at the time you do it.

Why does everyone just think about HIV when it comes to sex?

I won't say it's a small mind thing but it just baffles me that HIV is the first on the list when you have much more damaging sexual diseases out there that show up waaaaaaaaaaaaaaay quicker then HIV does.

I agree. Maybe the only solution is to just stop having oral sex...... or full body rubbers are popular in some european countries!

I read the odds of getting HIV through oral sex are smaller than winning the lotto... So I am going to quit sucking cock and start playing the lotto....
