"Wicked" played for a month here in Columbus. This was the first show I had been to since I saw Ms. Sigon in Louisville in 1996.

The show was great, about 3 hours long. Lots of references to "time" in the sets, etc. Since I like watches / timepieces in general, this was cool to me.

I saw the show twice, once from the 4th balcony row Z, literally the last row in the place. The next time I had orchestra seating which was awesome.

Anyone else see the show, and what were your thoughts?

I've seen it in London, and I looooooove it.

I've got the broadway soundtrack and love to sing along, haha I'm such a saddo.

My favourite songs are "As Long As You're Mine", "No Good Deed", "Defying Gravity" (of course) and absolute favourite is "For Good."

Anyone who hasn't seen it - go!

I don't usually like stuff like that but a buddy was in charge of hair/makeup so he got us good seats and I was really surprised at how good it was. Some really good songs.

Loved it! Wonderful music and great concept.

Took my 9 year old nephew that does local theater and he also loved it. Also, I sent my 15 year old jock nephew with his great aunt and and grandparents and they all loved it.

    Definitely worth seeing.

Saw it in New York and fell asleep briefly! Great show though and Ms Chenoweth is amazing on the soundtrack.

Honestly, I thought the book was better. And I preferred AvenueQ to Wicked, the musical.

I liked the book - well, the first half of it, the 2nd half sort of lost what the first half had - but I knew beforehand that the musical took the idea and basically wrote a different story with it.

This is true of almost all adaptations. But the book Wicked is one of my favorites. I like all of Gregory Maguire's fairytale retellings!

Definitely in my top 5 for musicals...but can't give it the coveted number one slot (that goes to Les Miserables).

Will be interesting to see what they do with it when made into a movie...

Yeah I got the opportunity to see this show with my ex when it was playing in Seattle in the last year or so. I am not a huge "play" kind of guy, but I have to say that I was very impressed. Definitely worth seeing, and this is coming from somebody who has been to maybe 3 plays in my life.

My orchestra class went to see them in California my freshmen year of high school. When they came back they would not shut up about it,so I listened to some of the music on youtube. My favorite being Defying gravity icon_biggrin.gif. If it ever comes out on DVD i'll get but i can't sit still for 3 hours, sorry lol.

You should read the book. The story is more intense and really delves into the psychology and politics of Oz and how all of it effects Elphaba more than the musical. And they are different enough in tone and detail to stand on their own apart from each other.

I have to say, I did try to read the original book but I just couldn't get into it for some reason.
