What's With The Facebook Link On All The Posts?

I just noticed that today, at the very top of all the OPs. I must have missed that memo.

What's that about, what does that do? I don't have Facebook. Does that mean things I post are now visible on Facebook? Or were they always before? I don't understand the tie-in.

    Thanks.

Thanks, I was wondering what that was. I guess "All the world is a stage." now.

If you click the link, and have a Facebook profile, it'll show up that you "liked" this page, which means it will show a link to that page on your Facebook profile wall. None of the actual posts are synchronized to Facebook in any way; it's just a method of generating more traffic to the website.

So those of us with 'something to hide' beware of the link to FB button, i suppose.

Is there a "dislike" button I can click?

Haha, I agree. Lame that RJ and FB are connecting like this, in my opinion... who shares a link to a forum thread anyways?...

OK, please excuse my densosity -- so if an RJ member has Facebook, and they click on an RJ thread that way, then their Facebook profile says they liked that RJ thread, correct?

But can other Facebook members members follow that mention back here to RJ? And if they can, are they able to read the thread, and see our main pics, if they are not RJ members themselves? I know non-RJ members already can navigate our site to a limited degree, but they can't see our pics.

So do I have that right?

Any FB member following the link as a non-RJ member will experience RJ as any non-member would. If your profile is RJ members only, they will only see your prose in the forum and not your picture or profile.

This would be a good time to remind members that you can hide your profile and be hidden on threads to non-members in the preferences menu under profile preferences.

No because negativity is looked down upon in this superficial society of American cunts.

OK, so I'm been experimenting. I signed out of RJ, then came back as if a non-member. This I presume is how those on Facebook would see us.

And I was astonished how many threads I could follow, and how many main pics I could see. Plus even those of us like me whose account name appears as HIDDEN will be revealed when we are quoted by others.

Again, I realize this is the way it's been here, but now with even more public viewing presumably occurring with this Facebook connection to bring outsiders here. Or do I misunderstand?

I likewise realize that a lot of people are comfortable with having their faces appear all over the Internet. It is, after all, called FACEbook. But that's not something I think is a good idea, for security reasons.

Well, I'm going to keep an eye on this, for my own peace of mind.

Dude, YOU'RE a newbie. But at least you're 18 and from Queens, so I won't expect to see you post anything that makes me facepalm.

One of the few times I freely agree with you. Im not a fan of this new feature.

I'm assuming the RJ admins need/want revenue and this is a way to get it.

Can they add to our preferences "Do Not Link Account with Facebook".

True, I do think there are discussions going on on RJ forums that contain private information we share on here that we dont want to share with everyone... why else would we be on RJ in the first place???

You are correct. This will bring more traffic from inbound to RJ links posted on RJ members FB page.

Really? Even if you just select "Allow only members who are signed in to the RealJock site to view my profile"?
