I've looked on the internet and asked a trainer in the gym but I still don't really no what burns fat. The trainer said to go on the treadmill do a minute warmup (jogging) then put the speed to a sprint for two and a half minutes, then put the speed down by 1 on the treadmill and keep putting it down every two and a half minutes for 10 to 15 minutes and if I do that every day or two I'll burn fat now is this true? or is there better ways to burn fat at the gym?

The reality is that what you do at the gym has very little direct effect on the fat you carry around.

Doing cardio makes you healthier but if you want to lose fat you need to concentrate you your diet.

There are lots of sites online that will tell you roughly how many calories you need to eat a day, and then you figure out the meals that will give it to you.

It's not hard, but you have to just do it all the time, no cheating, plan in advance, etc.

A good free site is www.sparkpeople.com. You can set it to plan meals for you, or you can turn that part off and plan everything yourself. It also has an iPhone app, but in the beginning I recommend using the web site because there is so much real estate.

Let me know how you find it. Maybe PM because threads roll way pretty quickly. Just noticed you mentioned 3% BF as a goal. As far as I know, that is obtained only by bodybuilders under the strictest regimen, and usually shows the veins excessively. I've also read that that pct is not healthful. I would suggest 7% as a better goal. At that pct, you can be very lean, with very well defined muscles.
