Random post but my aunt was asking me what I wanted to do with my life and I jokingly (kind of xD) said I wanted to be a chippendale. She said "great so you want to embarass the family, that's nice". I really don't see the big deal about it I think its probably the classiest form of stripping, it's mostly just dancing in your underwear. Anyways, not saying I'm dead set on doing it just always thought it'd be fun/ good money. Do you guys think its trashy? Discuss B)

Your aunt remembers the Chippendales club, where there were nude performers, in addition to the waiters in the little black square-cut shorts, black bow ties, cuffs, and nothing else. I believe they are currently just a Las Vegas act, along with a touring company, no nudity. They retain their trademark black bow ties, white collars, and white French cuffs, combined with various levels of skimpy & provocative dress.

You're a riot! Of course it's trashy. Saying "its probably the classiest form of stripping, it's mostly just dancing in your underwear" just makes me ROFLMAO. Fortunately you did write in the beginning that you said it jokingly.

If I were your relative I would be more embarrassed knowing you use the 'word' "conversating". A well spoken 20 year old might be taken more seriously and make better networking leads.

Lol I honestly don't see the big deal. I'm not saying it's a classy career choice, however, I do think it'd be something fun for a couple of years. I mean this post isn't relevant to my career choice as I don't even know what I want to do. Where did I use the word conversating?

I'm sure it would be fun for a relatively short period of time. Enjoy it if you choose to!

Sorry I wasn't aware I was going to be critiqued by the grammar police for not using 'conversing'. This post was just to see peoples insight on the topic, not for you to bash me. If you're going to laugh at me for saying it's the classiest form of stripping passing and judge me based on that then take a look at your profile. Multiple pictures of you in underwear or shirtless, which is similar except you're not getting paid icon_cool.gif.

When we put something forward on-line we're all game!
Interesting response (pictures in underwear ... "same thing" except not getting paid)! The fact that I'm not being paid is because I'm not a whore. I might be slutty amongst gay men when appropriate but that's still not getting paid or being a whore. Taking it substantially further outside of the realm of this discussion are the difference amongst killing/slaughtering/murdering. Killing a fly, slaughtering a cow and murdering a human. It's not the same except that a being's life was ended. (Perhaps a member of PETA thinks differently. If so I don't care!) Language is a wonderful thing, a way to express one's inner feelings. "Same thing" is sometimes actually different.
In short, if you want to be a Chippendale guy - enjoy yourself and be safe! Remember that you'll be judged by people by the way you speak and act.

So if I was a dancer for money, even though i'm not promiscuous automatically makes me a whore? I see. . .

I have no idea. I'm not interested nor understanding of dance and couldn't comment on it.
You equated my RJ photos with being "the same" but it is not.
But if you had photographs of you posted here on-line as a dancer it certainly would not make you a whore. At the same time being a whore isn't necessarily a bad thing as long as the person is a decent human being - and hopefully his client would be too. There apparently is a need for sex-for-pay. As long as it doesn't disturb others who cares. The government would do well to regulate prostitution (taxes, health requirements, etc.). Perhaps some day.

Yea before you posted I edited to 'similar'. If I were to become a Chippendale, it wouldn't make me disreguard all morals and sleep with any female or male customer in the club. I don't think because someone is a stripper/dancer that automatically makes them a whore. I guess that's another assumption made by society.

Sometimes there are fine lines though. Just be aware.

being a Chippendale male has it's prestige.
i live in las vegas, have met many Chippendales males. the variety in sculpture, personality, and nationality is remarkable. there are guidelines, they represent Chippendales,
both on and off the stage. educated, well mannered in etiquette, and very well dressed.
updated images show those who have a biased opinion, that their viewpoint is based on hearsay.
i personally experienced the members and give full support in telling the reality of who and what they do.

    No, I don't think it's trashy. It's entertainment.

Eh, I don't think it's trashy, it's not like you're trying to whore yourself around and sleep with everyone. Heck if you enjoy doing it, and no one gets hurt nor is it illegal, who is anyone to say you shouldn't? It pays the bills, and you have a good time doing it. Win win if you ask me.

When I'm with my friends and we go out dancing, I'll do some things that are "promiscuous" like bend over and shake my ass. Does that automatically make me a hoe, or mean that I'm trying to get attention? Not really, it's just my way of having a good time. (and it freaks my female friends outicon_biggrin.gif) Although, I know others may digress. icon_rolleyes.gif

First off- get used to it. You will be judged by everybody based on your occupation and other factors. Your family will judge you- your friends will judge you and you will, to some extent judge yourself.

As to weather it is classy... I have never met a "classy" stripper. I have met smart strippers, ladies (yes, I have to use women as my examples) with families, degrees and investments. Having said that- I do not know that I would say any exuded "class." At best, most showed a tough, independent side and knew how to get what they want.

The flip side is the drugs and addictions. I have known LOTS of strippers who were addicts. If you go down that road keep a close eye on yourself and don't believe that it is "just once..."

Lol I laughed when she told me that, I could care less what her oppinion on me is. I know she was a slut even a few years ago, now of course she's religous and would never do such things ;).

As for the guy who told me to work on my body, I doubt i'd actually be a chippendale although I am considering it. But I'm in the process of working on my body anyways, so thanks.

I remember seeing the Chippendales on Donahue as a little boy and I thought they were pretty.
