Who knew that what seemed like a simple stubbed pinky toe could destroy my cardio routine for a WEEK??? It had been going so well. It's been a week and it still hurts just to put on shoes, never mind running in them (or biking, or ellipticalizing).

    Rant over.

Piggy toe? Pinky toe? No idea! It's the little one. Well I edited it to say pinky. icon_confused.gif

Didn't see a doctor because what can be done if it's broken anyway? Just let it heal up. But I don't think it is, and it's slooooowly improving.

I didn't think so at the time, but I did get ice on it that night when I realized it was swelling up. But fuck, I'm now over a week without being able to do a run. I gotta have patience. Meanwhile, yesterday I used the elliptical with just my sox on (not at a public gym) and it was fine so that will hold me over till I can start pounding pavement again.

    A STUBBED TOE?? wtf?

Sounds like you may have fractured it. Personally, I'd have it x-ray'd if the pain lasted that long.

Have you tried taping it? They make some tape that only sticks to itself, not the skin. When I seriously injured a toe, throughly wrapping the toe, then wrapping it to the foot provided enough support to make running bearable. Worth a try if you haven't tried it yet.

Try dropping a meat cleaver and almost cutting off your big toe... 8 weeks of no walking!! I hope you heal fast though!

get it x-rayed man. My buddy thought that he stubbed his pinky toe, when in fact he actually drove the bone inside of his foot (I know YUCK). It should have healed by now and you need to deal with it before re breaking the bone is really a problem. Good luck and always remember to get a specialist when in doubt.
