Maybe it's just me, but I swear I notice a disproportionate number of bodybuilder type guys wearing sweatpants to the gym. Today, for example I saw one working legs wearing them. Wouldn't it make more sense to wear shorts or is this some sort of " fashion statement"?

? too. They wear what they want to wear for whatever their reasons are. Most of the really big guys I work out with wear loose baggy clothes.

I dunno. I kind of have a thing for sweat pants. If the guy has a nice Chris O'Donnell kind of build I'm all for checking him out in his sweats.
....Or long underwear. Weird as it may sound.

    I wish I could... icon_sad.gif

From being a crotch watcher I can tell a lot of these sweat pants guys go commando. Or else I simply see them dressing in the locker room and know for sure. Maybe full pants makes them less inhibited about going commando, even compared to longer shorts?

But I suspect the suggestion above regarding keeping the muscles warm could be true for some, as well. I do cardio and generate a lot of heat and so wear shorts, and can wear them right into the gym in Florida year-round. And for a different example, professional dancers will also wear special leg warmers, to keep those muscles warm and loose, though usually cover their torsos and arms to a minimum to dissipate the workout heat.

I could therefore see a deliberate logic to a serious bodybuilder choosing to wear sweat pants at times. Well, we've got some here, so what do they say, rather than the rest of us speculating?

Totally agree. Legs are pretty much genetic, especially calves. If they have disproportionately small legs compared to the rest of their build they will invariably wear pants to work out in 365 days a year. Maybe once every two years they will come to the gym with shorts and I will almost fall over. Not because their legs are small, it's because I've never seen their legs before and I've known them for 3+ years.

I disagree.... I wear pants to the gym all the time, and I have legs. I especially like wearing pants to the gym on leg day, since it's easier to slide under the seated calf machine rather than getting my skin stuck on the vinyl pad icon_smile.gif

Personally I wouldnt mind seeing bodybuilders in sweat pants, rather than bright colored singlets, which a few of them at my gym seem to prefer. icon_lol.gif

I dress for comfort and I'm hot-blooded. I would be barfing wearing sweats when working out. I need to keep cool and let sweat evaporate. Also, I have monster legs so....just sayin.

I hardly ever wear shorts to the gym unless doing cardio. I just feel more comfortable in sweats and my legs are pretty decent so its not to hide them. Sometimes I think guys are hotter with sweats on and a nice tight T!

It makes me wonder about guys who post trival threads like these: do they have really good lives that they can attend to such trivia, or do they have really bad lives that such petty issues push them over the edge?
