I was asking myself if this is really possible. I was raised in a catholic Household. I myself could never find anything interesting in it since I am a guy of science. I came out rather drastically when the opportunity presented itself, my sister just got pregnant again and I thought if I would give my mother a heart attack I would just go with it.

So, even after 8 years later, I am still torn about how to act in front of my Christian mother. It doesnt hurt me to go to Church, but I reject interpretation of Religion itself. I cant make that clear to my parents and I always feel like I am hurting them, at the same time, I feel bad listening of all the stories that for some reason are the reason that I am supossed to be not normal.

I go to Church if I am asked to, but I still oppose greatly. So if there are any Christians with the People of RJ, maybe you can shine some light on it so I can understand it better.

We NEED a reality TV show on this. Now THIS is real GENUINE drama and not just a bunch of misfits babbling on about nothing. 10 people: 5 gays, 5 straight Catholics. One house. Bwa ha ha ha haaaaa. One of the gay people MUST BE BLACK too, because they keep it real and say it like it is.

doesn't it hurt /you/ to have to go places and do things you dont want to all because someone else believes something you don't? it seems like it is a lot like living in the closet..

you ask for advice from Christians on the forums but i would assume they all still go to church and like it. you don't want to go to church. so i would say, i've seen it done but i don't think it would work in your case.

Be yourself. Don't act. I am Protestant (from a similarily hardcore background as the RCC.) I refuse to listen to those stories as I have come to the understanding that I am normal like anyone else out there and God does not care if I'm gay or straight. I have switched churches to attend one that welcomes gays. In the end, your faith should be about God, not about the people who claim to serve him, and this does include our parents.

You disrespect yourself when you agree to go places where they tell you you are bad.

Unless they have some physical power over you, there's no reason to go. People who stand up for themselves get more respect in the long run. If you cave, then it's fair for them to wonder if you're not so sure of yourself.
