Watch this clip from Anderson Cooper and notice how the spokesperson from Focus on the Family tries to say she supports anti-bullying programs... as long as they're generic and, oh yeah, don't specifically mention gay kids.

I agree that kindergardeners shouldn't be indoctrinated and berated whith adult topics, but when the kids are using adult subjects to insult one another, they need to be taught that it is not ok to insult someone with that kind of language. They may be too young to understand WHY its not ok, but when kids are that little, they don't need the details, they will just listen.

They need to stop giving Focus on the Family airtime. Treat them like the hostile, backward, puppy-tossing fuckwads that they are.

I saw this the other night online... and I wished they just stop dancing around the subject. They don't like homos - we all know it. They are opposed to the legislation because it includes "sexual orientation" in it. I quit watching CNN because they kept putting punk ass Tony Perkins and his goons on TV like his organization is respectable. CNN and I are history....

    Sad..

I think Candy's (Focus On the Family) final statement, sums it up. They are more concerned about the perceptions of the parents of these children, then they are about resolving the actual issue their children experience.

I don't care if you are abused because people think you are gay, just so long as they don't use that dirty word in school.

She advocates punishing bullies but not telling them why bullying is wrong.

You notice when the issue of discussing race or disability in the classroom to prevent bullying was brought up she evaded answering. icon_lol.gif

I find it amazing to think they actually believe some of what they say.

Unfortunately, when they are given air time, they stick to the talking points and never elaborate on the subject at hand or how exactly they would resolve it better. Most people can see right through that, but I've heard some people say, "oh, she really stuck to her guns on that one" and they see it as a win!

This is not to say that they shouldn't have ait time, just that if they avoid answering a question by sticking to talking points, they should be called out on it. America should know...hey, you avoided my question. Why won't you give me a solid answer?
