Happens all the time. Seen a show on logo once about gay siblings... one family had 5 siblings, all gay/lesbian.

Identical twins tend to be gay if one of them is gay.

I've known a few gay siblings, too.

We're pretty sure one of my older half-sisters is a lesbian...

Statistically, it's probably not the most common thing for more than one to be 100% gay... but it's not so rare that it's unheard of.

In all my years of being out, I have known many brothers and or sisters from the same family that are gay. I have also known a guy who had an identical twin brother who was not gay like he was. The twins however had an older brother that was. The gay twin was not as close to the straight married twin as he was the older non-twin brother.

Of Course it is! Also depends on how tight your definition of "family" is. None of my 5 siblings are gay but I have uncles, aunts and cousins who are, on all sides of my family tree.

As far as I know out of 9 kids I am the only son of my biological mother who is gay. Then agai my three youngest siblings are too young to tell at this period of time. I did have gay and bi foster brothers in 1 or 2 of the families i was in but i didn't know about it until i was stripping next to him in the same club. I also experimented when i was 8 with 2 other foster brothers... It wasn't truly a sexual thing at the time but the idea wasn't mine to touch each others parts and stuff it was my older foster brother Charlie Garcia... I always liked my men older and exotic... I blame him for those preferances. hahaha

I have 3 older sisters, a younger brother, and a younger sister.

3 older sisters are married, so definitely straight.

My younger brother is straight as far as I can tell (I found pictures of naked women ONLY (CUE: EEW) in his porn stash). I really hope he is. LOL. If he turns out gay too, I don't know if my parents can take it. Continuing the family name is very important to filipinos. I'm counting on him to do it, Hehe.

Our youngest... I dunno. I'm having weird vibes that she may be lesbian. Or at least bi. She grew up to two brothers, *sigh*. I hope it's just a tomboyish phase. Knowing how hard it is to be gay, I wouldn't wish gayness on any of them. Heh

Of course it's possible. I come from a family with four kids. I'm a twin, my twin brother is gay, and my older brother is too. Only my sister is straight.

And I tend to agree with both twins being gay, it happens a lot and has a biological background to why it happens.

Totally possible and I'm living proof.

I know of one family where the mother (the parents are divorce), one of the two sons & the daughter are gay.

My friend & his brother are both gay -- and they get asked the "Have you had sex with your brother?" question all the time, but usually from straight people. Their response usually is, "NO! Have you had sex with your straight sister???"

My cousin and his sister are gay. Their little sister proclaimed bisexuality when she was a teen, likely just to be as cool as her older siblings, but later she determined she was plain old straight.

In other news, my uncle drinks a lot (even though my aunt is *stunning* at 50). ;-)

I've a got a gay brother, two gay cousins, and a brother in law far passed the questioning phase whose moved into the closeted phase. My older gay cousin thinks it's all linked to our beloved grandma(both maternal). The last time I visited my extended family there was rumour of two our female cousins being possible lesbians. Fortunatly, they're I'm on good terms with both, so time will tell.

But yeah, suffice it to say, that it's not a matter of how many gays/bis/lesbians/transexuals your family has, but whose coming out next.

I've always been attracted to gay twins, and a guy with a bi/straight/confused twin. Knowing that they could be both feeling some of the same emotions at any given time is encouraging. Not to mention twice the personality and points of view.

But I wouldn't put too much faith in any 'studies' on how many people concider themselves gay. There's so much that goes into realizing your gay, experimenting, accepting, than the coming that make any study more far off than one of Bush's "WTF?" comments.

Wow. I learn something new everyday. There are so many persons with gay siblings. I am really wondering if there is actually a genetic basis for "gayness" or just transferable behaviour.

Me stumbling on to a forum like this, is like a kid running around in Willy Wonka's Chocolate Factory. I would really love to do a scientific study of this to see how prevalent it really is. Sadly, studies such has these don't get much funding so extensive research in this area is along way off. I guess one day someone will take on the challenge.

Don't know how often it occurs but my older bro is also gay. I want to say the classic line... "my poor parents" but that isn't exactly true. Their marriage hasn't exactly been the best definition of the alleged God approved union between a man and a woman nor has their generation exactly proven that said union holds the key to Utopia. My parents clearly understand being gay does not make it impossible to make a baby or babies so being grandparents isn't off the table either. So I refuse to say, "My poor parents" If anything they have a leg up on all their friends when they come crying to them about their grown adult kids latest secret scandal. My parents can laugh and privately think.. Fuck that, thats cookies and cream you fucking amateurs LOL.

Definitely. I dated a guy who had 3 brothers. One came out after we broke up so 2 of 4 are gay. I have 4 siblings, all straight. Not sure what that means. Used to be nature or nurture, genetic or how you were raised. I tend to think it is a result of the multiple chemical processes that occur in utero that determine gender aside from genetics and xy or xx. It seems so random and as the above responses show some families have many gay offspring and some have one or none.

Personally, I don't care what "made" me gay. I am so I am. Happy to be so.

Bad news is, it turns out he's also a jerk. He cheated on his boyfriend of 2 months then kicked him out. I came to the rescue and we wound up together for 5 years! My brother has hated me ever since.

My cousin is gay and his sister is lesbian.

Interesting side story: They also had a baby sister. When she was around 14 she decided she was gay, then bisexual. Finally, after a couple more years, she couldn't deny her sexuality any longer and came out as straight. Apparently she was disappointed that she wasn't as interesting and cool as her two older gay siblings.
