The "Spam/Violate TOS" button will not aid the economic recovery of America or end world hunger.

    Just saying.

It will cause a little stir much like "Ignore his post" button did last year. Then it will be business as usual....

Let us continue to have meaningful and maybe not so meaningful conversations.... and keep it all in perspective yes?

Meh. Judging from another thread, this was a seemingly legitimate concern for several men.

The new feature will ease the concerns for those agitated by spammers. Honestly, I couldn't care less; it's just a forum after all to express opinions.

I'll miss some of the spam since it was at times freakishly entertaining. Most recently, the guy who wrote about his bizarre date leaving early after doing a #2 on the toilet. However, a few months back, a member started a thread about peeing sitting down, that was alright.icon_confused.gif

....and now the sun will continue to shine tomorrow, phew.

The problem: what determines if something is SPAM?

    1. $5000 is waiting for you in a bank in Nigeria.

    YES, SPAM.

    2. I'm really sick of all of you F*CKERS!

    SPAM, NO OR YES?

Wrestlervic: the 2nd one is not spam. However, constant posting like that could be considered flaming or otherwise disrupting forum activity.

What I see as a big problem, is that unverified members aren't allowed to use it. So, they will be fair game for the trolls.

I'm abating my posts in this site. It's more or less becoming a politically correct online world for insecure fags to prattle on without putting much thought into anything.

Hell, I'll still flame the crap out of stupid fuckers who continually molest the concept of logic until I'm banned...for a third time.

    Yup. Agreed.

Also, I think the moderators need to be active in the threads instead of acting like gods, furtively pulling people out of RJ with no explanation.

Is the purpose of the option to flag "inappropriate material," such as involving nudity, etc? For example how when people post photos in threads with frontal nudity...I think that violates the ToS of the site.

    amar_m saidWhats a TOS violation?

    Terms of Service violation
    (I assume...)

Correct, which are available to read from the RJ home page. Here they are in fact called Terms of Use, but TOS became popular on services like AOL and continues to be a common term for the membership rules of an online social site. It's presumably for that reason that this new link on each post reads Spam/TOS Violation rather than TOU, the actual term used by this site elsewhere:

    http://www.realjock.com/tou/

Therefore some of the posting abuses here are not Spam, but rather other TOS/TOU violations. (Although Spam itself is actually a category of TOU violation) For instance, the RJ TOU state:

Harassment. The use of the Website to threaten, engage in or advocate the harassment of any individual or group (verbally or electronically) is illegal and prohibited.

Hate Speech. RealJock will not tolerate hate speech toward any person or group in the form of ethnic slurs, personal insults or obscene language. Inflammatory discussion relating to controversial topics, such as politics or religion, will not be tolerated and is strictly prohibited.

Given the climate after the changes to Craigslist, it's a legitimate question. I'm not suggesting that should be the case, just wondering aloud.

So, in your opinion, how many times can someone say "I hate all of you F*ckers" before it becomes SPAM? Twice in an hour? Four times over four different threads over four days?

You see, this is always the problem with TOS and SPAM enforcement. Moderators know that TOS parameters are ambiguous (for instance, Youtube saying nothing sexually explicit, then removing anything that the moderator personally defines as explicit, even two shirtless guys wrestling)

I don't know why this has become an issue on this site worth looking at. It's easy to spot and skip over posts that appear spamish, and you just don't respond to those. Don't feed them, and they go away.

I'd rather have a free world than a world where you fear that anything you say could be reprimanded.
