I think the causes vary, most common would be excessive bulkiness of throat tissue which is usually associated with being overweight.

Dude I JUST found out last year that I snore....LOUDLY...

I'm really stressed about it. LOL. I know its not "really" a big deal. But who wants to date a loud snorer? LOL. But seriously, I wake up still tired so I can tell its from not sleeping well at night.

I even tried a week of videotaping myself at night just to see when/why I snore...When on my back, it's the worse, but I snore on my side too...I still snore if my mouth is closed and sleeping with extra pillows doesn't help. Also those strips don't work for me.

I'm pretty much in shape and healthy but I've always had congestion/sinus problems. So next I'm gonna try get a dehumidifier and take a decongestant at night.

If all else fails I'll get one of those sleep studies done.

I never snore. I always thought it might be due to being a light sleeper. My father was a very loud snorer you could hear him all over the house

Because some men are just weird and refuse to conform to the social norm of snoring.

Wait...in another post you go on about how shy, private, semi-social, mentally challenged and mentally disabled guys should still be considered dating material...but snoring is one step too far?

    Gotcha...SMH...To each his own....

Good luck with all that homie!

If you tend to wake up tired, or seem to wake a lot at night, say to go to the bathroom or whatever, as well as snoring, you may have sleep apnea.

You are right that you may want to do a sleep study, but be careful. The copay alone for mine was $500 and they did it twice.

Still, check with the doc. Apnea can be serious stuff.

I've started snoring pretty badly which sucks, but I get the feeling that I've been doing it for a while and no one has told me. I think for me it's because my pillow is pretty high, I can feel my airways being compacted so I've got to switch it and see if it helps.
