Let's see if I hear back from them. Have you found your school mates on Facebook?

Funny this thread appeared today - this morning, thinking about my recent 30th high school reunion, I realized that both my crush and a bully had friended me on Facebook. The crush was a high school girlfriend (now a mother of two) who was my date at the 10 year reunion where I got reacquainted with the bully (a psychologist and local radio personality who just became a father of three) at cocktails. Now 20 years later thanks to Facebook I'm Uncle Eager. icon_wink.gif Isn't it amazing how we evolve? I'd find more schoolmates but I'm not proactive in friending (not to mention buddy- or hotlisting) people online.

I also found a guy that gave me my first wet dream. He was a guy who developed muscles faster than anyone else. Should I tell him that I fantasized about us nude wrestling in a warehouse next to railroad tracks in my dream? icon_wink.gif

I've only been out of high school for about 8 years, but have never had the urge to contact anyone I went to school with so far. Most of my friends were homeschooled, or went to a different city's high school. The ones I hung out with that went to my school are mostly in jail or dead now. (My graduating class had a really high suicide rate for some reason.)
As for the others at my school that I socialized with but never really "hung out" as good friends, I wasn't really friends with them then, so I'm trusting my instincts that I don't want to hang out with them or talk to them now.

As for the high school bully, last I'd seen him was a few years after graduation, and he's a junkie. High school crush died a few days after graduation in a car accident.

I went to high school 29 years ago, so things will change when you get that far away. Hope you make your 10th reunion. 20th was the best for me. Everyone is cool and nice.

I'm assuming it will change the longer I've been away from them. I doubt I'll go to my 10th, but maybe the 15 or 20. By then, I'm sure people will have MUCH more interesting stories to tell about what they've been up to since graduation. icon_biggrin.gif

I've never gone to a HS reunion, the next one I guess will be the 45th in 2012 (if the world is still here). And I never kept in touch with any of my former classmates. Until a strange thing a few months ago.

I was at my partner's sister's house in Florida for dinner, where she had some guests from about 40 miles away, a married couple she had met through mutual friends. So we're all sitting having cocktails & chatting, when the wife mentioned how she and her husband had dated as students in a certain high school in New Jersey, got married a few years later and had been together ever since.

I almost choked on my drink. It was my old school! Turns out they were both the class of '68, me of '67. A large regional high school of 2600 students, we didn't know each other when we attended, but we 3 still remembered many of the other students and the teachers by name. It was liking having our own mini-reunion, and we spent a good part of the evening reminiscing. Life's coincidences never fail to amaze me.
