I thought I'd share this picture I took on the weekend. Do you like? It was such a nice day. When I walked up to the fence to get more shots, I saw this rather large "thing" move out of the corner of my eye. It was a spider. Shivers!

Unless you're a bird living in Queensland... haha, usually our golden orb-weavers only feed on insects, but this one was recently found devouring a small bird.

Can I just say that it's damn awesome that you know what Lolth is?

Also, after being recently bitten by brown recluses TWICE, spiders can go ahead and go extinct.

I have one (of the species you show) on the north and south sides of the house as we speak. They do look threatening, but I leave em alone. Spiders don't bother me... even the old wolf spiders. I saw of them this morning crawling in my grass. The only time I kill them is when they are in the house. Not allowed.

Be thankful that it wasn't a black widow spider on that wooden fence. Those spiders are poisonous. I seen more than my fair share of black widow spiders while I lived in Texas. I am not afraid of spiders, I just don't like the damned, nasty things.

I had a friend that got bit by a brown recluse on the back of his leg. The poison literally ate his flesh and he is left with a large scar.

As do I Vic... I know 2 people who were bitten by a brown recluse. It's horrible. But the spider you photographed is far from a brown recluse.

there is no perspective to see how big it actually is. You need to go back and put your face up next to it and take another pic.

Yeah, on my right wrist there's a pretty gnarly scar and the poison got into my bloodstream so I had to sto pworking out for two weeks for fear it would go to my lungs and heart. That was two months ago The second one still ate the flesh away on my left forearm, but it healed super quick, like. 2 weeks quick. I got super lucky I'm a good healer.
