I don't care about motd at all. There are probably very few people on RJ that care about motd. It's those few you see on the list all the time.

Yes, there are a number (me included) that have won it more than once.... but there have been a number that have been new... mainly because we have encouraged it.

Yes, I have noticed this. Honestly, I gave up on MOTD. In a way, it feels like a popularity contest at this point - I left that behind in high school.

The only time I really vote anymore is if one of my friends is nominated, or I find someone exceptionally different from the other nominees...

This is Real Jock, after all what do you expect from a bunch of gay guys (some intelligent, some not), fawning (sic) superficially of muscular toned guys. This is the high school mentality of the popularity contest. The age old geek vs jocks theme. The I'm gonna act like a jock (with no semblance of intellect) be cause of a standard society has imposed upon us.

    In a nutshell, I agree with you.icon_smile.gif

I roll my eyes at threads where RJ'er self-campaign (although I don't necessarily minds threads of RJ'ers campaigning for someone else. It's kind of sweet for someone to want to do something nice for someone else, even if it's a silly popularity contest). I get fucking pissed when someone has the audacity to email me begging for a vote, though.

    What a bizarre post.

Between two sentences about intelligence, you sic'd yourself after "fawning" (which, if you had stayed on course, was both correct in spelling and grammar) but missed the sic after "superficially of..." which is clearly incorrect grammar.

Who sics themselves? If you went to the trouble to identify that something is "as it is" while you wrote it, couldn't you have taken the time to spell/compose it correctly?

Oh, and if you're wondering, this is why you haven't been a MOTD candidate.

The comma before fawning, and the extra period before the second sentence, was a type error, I am not an efficient keyboard typist. Although I did take a course in typing. As for the use of the parenthesis, I just wanted to interject another thought, sort of an aside.

In rhetoric, a parenthesis (plural: parentheses; from the Greek word παρένθεσις, which comes in turn from words meaning "alongside of" and "to place") is

An explanatory or qualifying word, clause, or sentence inserted into a passage with which it doesn't necessarily have any grammatical connection, and from which it is usually marked off by round or square brackets, dashes, or commas

according to the Oxford English Dictionary.

Brackets are tall punctuation marks used in matched pairs within text, to set apart or interject other text

Oh, by the way, I do not wish to be MOTD candidate. I neither strive for the attention or wish to be objectified.
