I know they keep branching out and doing different things, and are big enough to do that...

But I'm extremely disappointed in their latest efforts. Minimalistic and most of the songs sound like rejects from Chester's solo project from Dead By Sunrise. :/

Anyone else like them and hear the album?

I could not agree with you more! I am all for them branching out and trying out different sounds, but the new album just flat out sucks!

It appeals to a very different crowd. The usual linkin park fans are going to be very disappointed.
    It mostly sucks

Their new single will be out soon called "Wretches and Kings". While I love the political statement and I really like the song, the rest of the album doesn't hit me on a solid, "Wow. This is a good record". It hits me on a, "What the fuck were they thinking!?"

With the last two albums I can see why. lol.

Then again, don't get me started on bands that I don't get why they're popular...

    Nickelback.
    Yeah.

There's really nothing good about it but critics seems to be liking it. The album strays away from their usual angst ridden lyrics and melody, it's basically about war&peace. Check the lyrics out.

I've helped write the lyrics onto multiple website databases.

Wretches and Kings is by far their strongest song and second single. For it's widely appealing Mario Savio speech, and the combination of Primal and Industrial lyrics mixed with the rock rap melody, it's my personal favorite as well.

I haven't heard the CD yet. If it is that bad, I will be disappointed. I really like them. I agree "The Catalyst" is just ok, and it is all I have heard at this point. icon_confused.gif

That's why so many of us fell in love with LP in the beginning was because of their "angst" lyrics - because we can relate to it.

I kinda got bored with LP after "Road to Revolution: Live at Milton Keynes". I found RED (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/End_of_Silence & http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Innocence_%26_Instinct) to be a good alternative, but they only have 2 albums, as such I slide back to Trance/Dance/Progressive as my primary choice for the gym.

Armin van Buuren - Mirage his latest project just released 9-10-2010
    http://www.youtube.com/arminvanbuuren
    ATB
    Tiƫsto
    are my primary 3.

When I'm bored of the above, I slide over to:
    Paul van Dyk
    Paul van Oakenfeld

Lastly my European FB buds are always posting ear candy, which I then throw into eMule.

For me the only songs I could hear from this album are "Blackout" and "Wrectches and kings"

the rest is basically a very bad POP album icon_smile.gif
