On The Bully Suicide of Billy Lucas in Indiana

    [quote]
“People would call him [Billy Lucas] ‘fag’ and stuff like that, just make fun of him because he’s different basically. They said stuff like ‘you’re like a piece of crap’ and ‘you don’t deserve to live.’ Different things like that. Talked about how he was gay or whatever,” said Greensburg High student Dillen Swango.

Not surprising. There will always be that bigot in the crowd, even if the rest of the crowd is neutral.

We had some kids' car get keyed and then spray painted "Faggot" on the side of it.
He wasn't even "that" gay, it was just hate defecating from the ignorant bastards.

(I had a crush on him too but wasn't out) lol.
And I didn't live life in fear of not being out at that time, it was just easier for people to understand I was a person despite a different sexual orientation.

I attended all boy schools and occationally the gay boys got picked on and i'd take up for [my fellow brethren] all the time...I started telling the guys to fight back because that way you'll get your respect...AND IT WORKED.!!!! When we gays stuck together as a group and became not the people to fuck with things changed in school..........
I wasnt picked on even though i was openly gay by then, the only reason i didnt get picked on was because i played sports,,,and was GOOD..plus i beat the crap out of this guy who was double my size and nobody dare'd fuck with me after that... Thats why i hate it when the gay community fails to come together as one....

I agree. Gay kids need to realize that they can fight back. Don't take shit from no pussy ass kids that feel safe around their friends.

I wish that some teacher, a male teacher, had taken up for this boy and told his bullies to cut that shit out. This is really sad. Another loss to the world because of homophobic dickwads.

I do not tolerate bullies. And, I actively coach, counsel, and defend those who are bullied.

I was bullied when I was a kid. And I learned that when you confront the bully and kick the living shit out of them, they back down and leave you alone. Either standing up to them, applying an arm bar until they kiss the floor usually works.

Active attacks from the bully can be channeled into an "ippon-seoi-nage" very quickly takes the breath away, but must be used with care not to injure the bully too badly. You want them to limp away. It's much more humiliating than if they lose consciousness.

I always got made fun of or harassed when I was in school mainly because of the way I talked (gay lisp) and also because it was the one way you could tell I was gay. It never really hurt my feelings, but it was just soo damn annoying when people couldn't just leave me alone.

While my friends and I were leaving the school to go get something to eat (I was driving). There was this guy parallel to me in the exit lane. The guy in the passenger side of the car would always call me names in the hallways at school like " Fag" or "Queer". As I was waiting to get out of the school his friend's car pulled up right next to mine and I didn't notice him until one of my friends pointed him out and got my attention. I quickly yelled at my friend in the back seat to roll up the windows because the guy had an ash tray in his hand and was going to try to throw it into my car.

Some people in highschool or school in general are just soo fucking dumb.
One qoute that I will always go by is the one by Malcolm X "Be peaceful, be courteous, obey the law, respect everyone; but if someone puts his hand on you, send him to the cemetery. "

I hope you are aware that this is not a scientific finding. I went to JHS school in the Bronx, and 100% of the straight kids Experienced Harassment in School.

A Decade or so back, The Presidents Commission on the Family concluded that the most damaging period in a child's life occurs during Junior High School,. This is the time when 12 to 14 year old kids are at their meanest, verbally and physically, and are easily emotionally hurt if they think someone said something bad about them. And the girls can be more vicious than the guys.

Did this survey also give the same survey in the same fashion to the straight kids? If not, the survey is worthless. Nearly all kids at this age believe they are being treated unfairly and abusively.
