Okay - is it just me or does it piss you off when the buddy you are working out with whines and complains that the weight is too heavy, or gets angry when you push them to their limits?

Just askin'..... BTW - you know who you are....

I'd have no problem telling the dude he's a fucking pussy.
It's amazing how effective negative motivation can be. icon_biggrin.gif

The purpose of a gym buddy is to motivate ya and push you to the limits. Whiners drive me crazy.

That does irritate me. What really ticks me off though is when someone asks me train them, and then they bitch and whine that i'm pushing them too hard. I tell them ahead of time I'm going to push them hard, and it won't be easy, at which they are all charged and ready to go, then they proceed to whine within 10 minutes of actually working out.

I mean really people, It's not like I'm trying to hurt or kill you. I don't push my clients any harder than I push myself, If you don't push your limits, you're not going to get stronger. The ones that stick with it and do what I say thank me later.

Yea i don't know if i could do it. It's like you are wasting you time when you can be focusing on your workout. Fortunately i haven't had to deal with that. People tend to be afraid of me at my gym even the trainers icon_confused.gif Not sure why.

You however can push me anytime icon_wink.gif

Tell me about it! My previous workout partner was such a diva -- didn't like sweating, lifting heavy, or the pain after working out (doms) -- so he stuck with resistance bands. He would either scream in pain, get distracted when a nice looking guy would come in the gym, or just stop mid-rep and put the weight down to go get a drink of water.

I had to let that go, quickly!

The best solution with those sorts of folks is to get rid of them. They'll only continue to be counter-productive across the board. Just dump them.

If they whine, tell them, NO SEX FOR YOU.

That'll make 'em quiet down. icon_twisted.gif

I'm a patient person, but not so much when it comes to whiners.

"pain is just weakness leaving your body"

"pain is just a feeling... and feelings are for girls"

"pain is only temporary, victory is forever"

Okay that would work too - but I'm afraid he'd cry ... I don't deal well with tears... I'd have to walk away icon_smile.gif

Make an agreement that if one of the workout buddies says something negative, he has to do 10 pushups for every negative statement. ... icon_wink.gif

For me if my Gym Buddy complains, uber guy mode sets in and well i tell them "don't be a pussy and lift" shit like that lol I've always have been around "macho guys" since it is in my culture (italian/mexican/french) to be like that lol

it does get annoying...one of the guys I workout with literally won't do anything at all if I don't tell him what to do.

I've come in 15 minutes late before and he's just sitting there on a bench...doing nothing. I asked him once what he'd do if I didn't show up. He said he'd probably just go home after awhile....wtf?

another guy I workout with always pretends his old injuries are acting up whenever we pull out the big weights or I try to push him.

I just say "whatever, man...its your body.." and leave it at that. I still expect him to spot me and push me, though. Ultimately I just need a workout partner who is a good spotter and is gonna make sure people stay out of the way when I'm doing a set. I can push myself...

None of my friends have ever asked to work out with me a second time. Maybe I'm just an asshole, but if you ask me to take you through my workout, then I'm in charge. It isn't a democracy, you don't get to vote. Shut the fuck up and do what I tell you, or go home.
