i registered in the Golds Gym,, and for the first day in the gym i entered into the locker room to drink some water from my bag in my locker ,, and i saw naked men changing their clothes,, fully naked i have found it weird for the first minute but i got used to it ,, well in the middle east you are not supposed to get naked in front of a man even if you were in the men locker room ,, so i was having hard time not to look ,, but of course i couldn't because i am Gay and i like to see men fully naked,, heheh and guess what happened i have meet a guy who is very very sexy i introduced my self to him and he did the same ,,and he gave me his address and guess what the address he gave me is?? its the same complex i live in very close to my apartment which i am not going to say it ,, hehhe but i don't know if he is gay or not hey (members of R.J.) don't bother and tell me don't ask him and this is personal question because i already know this and i am not idiot and not going to ask such questions and i will let the fate takes its path ,, but i guess it is a good step to get mixed and used to such thing here for a foreigner especially from iraq? i have question,, if he asked me one day from which country i am should i tell him from Iraq or he gonna shock?? and be not interested anymore,, by the way he was very interested to talking to me especially when i was taking off my short to wear the other and prepare to swim in the pool after 4 hours of excersie in the machines

    My opinion...
He might be shocked, but if he asks I would tell him. If he loses interest, then so be it.

If he can't like you for you are you going to spend the rest of your life trying to be someone else?

I say tell the truth, it really is the best thing to do. (You might not always get the outlook you WANT but its better to be truthful then be called a liar.)

Yeah, it is very strange for guys from the middle east to get used to locker room behaviour in north american gyms. I found it equally strange when i came to the middle east - i was used to the open atmosphere of my local Y gym and found the private change cubicles and all the towel dancing very strange and hard to get used to.

As for your question - I would tell him, my guess is he finds you interesting, perhaps slightly exotic or he would not have taken the step of giving you his address. If he is put off because you come from Iraq, or if nothing more comes of it then that is his loss.

    Good luck icon_biggrin.gif

There's one guy from the middle east in my gym who showers in his socks and underwear, but strangely enough, keeps his shower curtain open.

And he usually lingers in the showers and steam room longer than most people do.icon_rolleyes.gif

I would not fib about telling him where you are from. It should not make that much difference. You might give him a chance to ask some questions by saying something like I am from irag and it is so very different here.

Hope you will get to make a new friend.

The Middle East cultural norms regarding casual/social nudity are much more restrictive than even our own puritanical standards here in the USA.

If I remember correctly, men are supposedly to never reveal below the hipline to the tops of the knees in public.

The OP can correct me if I'm mistaken. icon_smile.gif

Isn't four hours a bit excessive? What are you training for?

by the way when i came from the pool,, with wet short ,, i took it off and put a clean short in front of all in the lockers but in a way that seems not interested in showing my body i mean jhust like what guys usually do when chnaging their clothes in the locker ,,i did that so i would not feel strange to them ,, because u know putting a towel and changing you clothes under it would look like strange ,, because they would wonder why i don't want to take off my clothes in public what i am afraid off?? so i did the opposite

Try visiting a clothing optional environment. That will help you overcome the shyness of public nudity.

After a quick google search, I found one close to you: http://www.miravistaresort.com/

Edit: Oh, and good luck with the guy. He may end up being a "very" good friend. icon_wink.gif

False belief systems often make the human body "dirty" and something that shouldn't be shown as well as a source of guilt and manipulation.

We still have some of that in The United States, but, in Europe, it's been mostly gone for a long time.

Welcome to America. You have the right to bare arms...and bare chests...and bare crotches...and bare asses.

And if you find our gym/locker room norms still too conservative (as evidenced by the 'towel dance' thread somewhere else in the forums), try the UK. icon_rolleyes.gif

LOL - oh yeah, completely a secret, just between you and the random 10's, 100's, 1,000's who might view this thread icon_biggrin.gif

Seriously though, talk to him, arrange to go for a coffee or a beer or whatever after your work out. See what happens.

    Good luck habibi

If he refuses, don't be sad, his loss - there are a lot more fish in the sea ( and guys in the gym icon_wink.gif )

And just a thought, slow down, you're getting waaay ahead of yourself. Relax, have that coffee or bear and try to let things flow naturally.

Is that how it works? They have "private change cubicles"? I was wondering how it was possible to change clothes in the locker room without getting naked. And all the showers are private stalls, I take it?
